That's ok but not outside the ball-park these days. The majors are offering MEL/SYD to China (PEK/PVG and others) for between $313 and $560 return. That still gives JQ - as an LCC - a pretty hefty margin (the $313 is on CZ including full service... bags, meals, drinks, IFE)
 
These fares do come around every now and again.

I flew to HNL on a $229 JQ fare a while back. It initially cost me around $450 return, although it ended up closer to $700 once I added the Plus Bundle, up-front seat selection, entertainment, etc.
