JQ Star Class - lounge access

Just booked a couple of Star Class flights:
- MEL-BKK-MEL
- SYD-KUL-SYD

According to jetstar.com, Star Class pax will have access to "the Qantas Club Lounge in Australia and at destination ports where available." There will be a QC in BKK (hopefully it'd open by July anyway) so I'm right there. But what about destinations without a QC like KUL? Is there lounge access, perhaps the lounges of other airlines, in that case?

Star Class is a lucrative way to earn SCs it seems.

I think your out of luck in KUL, i found out the other day from here that there is a oneworld lounge there but JQ/J3 passengers dont get access to oneworld lounges AFIK

So JQ doesn't do contracted lounges for its Star Class pax? Ah well, I'll just sit around at the KL terminal and admire the architecture.


I guess my comment about SCs is the relative affordability of Star Class vs Business Class on QF/BA, yet the same amount of SCs and points.

Hi QF009,

Up until now as far as i know they have not had any lounge arrangments, but given the service is yet to start maybe something may happen between now and then.

Actually if you earn on star class and redeem on QF / OW J class it does seem like a good deal, really a couple of grand to those destinations in some comfort is little more than you would pay flying normal discount QF or similar flights, however the super discount flights from malaysian etc could be half the price, but lot less comfort.

You will have a lounge to use at BKK; whether it's the Loui's Tavern J lounge or the new QP is the only issue.

Cheers, serfty. So it appears that there will be lounge access even where there's no QP. I wonder if they'd use the MH Golden Lounge in KUL? More likely the CIP lounge though.

Only a guess, but I don't believe any KUL lounge access will be available.

advertise lounge access at QP's for

Class PAX. As for BKK, there was a QP there when I booked for that trip back in July. IIRC, their advertising at that time referred to something like "Qantas Clubs in Australia and in Bangkok". (No HNL at that stage). This later changed to a simple "Qantas Clubs".

Looking today, it has changed again and now refers to "... After check-in, StarClass passengers have access to the Qantas Club Lounge in Australia and at destination ports where available while waiting for their priority boarding. ...". (my underlining)
