Does anyone know why numerous JQ flights on Sundays (and Mondays) OOL-MEL would only have JetFlex fares available, whilst others on the same days have JetSaver Lite fares available at cheap prices?

E.g. Sun Oct 23

JQ 441, 445 & 447 only have Jetflex fares available, whilst JQ 435, 439 & 443 have JetSaver Lite fares available for $99 or $119.

Almost every Sunday in Oct and Nov is like this, but the flights with only JetFlex fares vary.

All flights had JetSaver Lite fares when I looked approx. a week or so ago!

Have some flights just filled in a short time? This doesn't seem to make sense, but I don't know much about JQ, so I suppose it is possible. If it is the case, that's quick when no sale has been on!

Or, is it a glitch?

Or, are they looking at cutting some flights?

weekend holidayers flying back on a sun night - hence Sun morning cheap, Sun night expensive.
yield management at its best.

Except that the 4.30pm flight still has cheap fares while the 2pm, 5.20pm & 7.45pm flights only have Jetflex. The 4.30 flight still having cheap fares is very odd. Most other Sundays it's an odd mix like this too. And it has changed significantly in a very short time without a sale. Hence my query.

Just checked next weekend, which I would expect to have less seats available given it's so close, and Sunday has JetSaver Lite fares available on all flights. Also would've thought Gold Coast would be more popular now than Oct.

MEL-OOL in Oct there is no shortage of cheap flights, even Friday evening.

School holidays finish early Oct.

All very odd.

Wait - you're posting and implying that JQ are conducting some sort of conspiracy against you getting the cheapest fare tickey on flights you want, because they are selling tickets to OTHER people on those flights?

OCT/NOV falls into the new timetable period, perhaps JQ are discouraging bookings as they expect those flight times to change or be removed?

It may also have something to do with the volume of people leaving the coast after the V8 supercar race event. Have you checked the DJ flight availability for the same weekend as you will probably see a similar picture. It is (historically) pretty difficult to find cheap flights for that period unless you get in very early.

Given the trend is over a number of weekends I dont think local events are impacting it.

No, I am implying that based on the available evidence detailed above, it appears to me something other than having actually all the cheaper tickets on those flights has happened, such as an impending timetable change, as markis10 has mentioned.

I could be wrong though and they may have just actually sold all the cheaper tickets on selected flights in a week, without a sale!

Is there a TT fare that falls within 1 hour of the 1630 flight that people have price beaten so much, they've booked out Jetsaver inventory?

I'm a tad lazy to check tonight haha
