JQ Customer Panel Survey Results on Domestic and International Travel

I thought the results shared by Jetstar's on customer panel survey results are interesting.

I did think Gold Coast and Cairns would become the new Bali.

We’ve also learnt about your travel plans for the coming months. Here is a snapshot of what you’ve told us: You are keen to travel! Most of you (80%) said you intend to travel domestically in the next 12 months. The top holiday destination panel members want to visit is Cairns, closely followed by the Gold Coast. Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne and other parts of Queensland also rated highly. Over 60% of you said you plan to visit destinations in Australia you’ve never been to before in 2021. 48% plan to fly to see family and friends more often in 2021.

While international travel is still on pause, 33% of you said you will go overseas as soon as it’s deemed safe. Another 45% told us you are looking forward to going, but still have some concerns. There has been a lot of talk about “travel bubbles” with countries that are managing COVID-19 well – 33% of you said you would consider going anywhere that’s open for travel. New Zealand is the top international destination being considered by panel members.

The domestic travel answers are highly surprising but the international travel results are scary... I responded to that survey and said I'd travel overseas as soon as it's safe to do so but clearly I'm not in the majority!

That being said I'll be up in line for the vaccine as soon as I can and once again it's scary that 25%+ people say they're not interested. Either way, I flew a lot of Jetstar flights pre covid and have flown a lot post covid. All I can say is I can't wait to get on a JQ A320 across the ditch and hopefully even JQ B787's when the time arises.
