Vic Govt to also launch a Lara Station to AVV public bus route which will definitely reduce the cost of reaching the airport.

I wonder where the bilaterals are being shifted from.
MEL? Timing of these flights is identical to the fourth MEL-DPS flight of the day (JQ35/36).

Leading to speculation (my own of course 🤣 ) that this approach will be replicated in Sydney once WSI opens.

WIll be MUCH cheaper than Skybus, just a 2 hour capped Myki fare of $5.50 (cheaper for concession), and VLine to Lara, so limited stops, bargain!

Some MEL-DPS frequencies being transferred to AVV as part of the Victoria State Government deal with JQ and AVV/Geelong. It would've not qualified for State Government aviation fund subsidies otherwise if it was stand-alone (since DPS is a heavy outbound market).

Not the only thing JQ got creative with for subsidies. They utilised their 5th freedom rights for NTL and MCY to extend DPS to SIN so they can argue to NSW and Qld that the SIN hub bring brings inbound tourists to Newcastle and the Sunshine Coast.

Aircraft for the Bali flight operates as a BNE-AVV-DPS v.v. pattern.

Non-daylight savings schedule:

JQ633 BNE1155 - 1420AVV 32Q x26
JQ49 AVV1740 - 2150DPS 32Q x26
JQ50 DPS2325 - 0700+1AVV 32Q x26
JQ632 AVV0850 - 1055BNE 32Q x37

Smart I guess.

The overall seat count across the Melbourne Basin into Bali won’t change on JQs end, but they pickup a whole bunch of assumed funding and subsidies, so overall seat cost should come down.

Remains to be seen what the taxpayer gains but that’s a story for another day.
