Joon - an AF subsidiary

Not wild about the journalist's grammar... His story was about as bad as the airline's operation.

It was posted for the story not the grammar, which we all know these days is pretty much automated.

Here's an (arguably) better article about the rise and fall of Joon: Air France Looks to Shut Down Millennial Experiment Joon

I've never really understood what the point of Joon was. Is it a LCC?

I assumed that AF created Joon to employ cheaper cabin staff, but then the unions got involved and I believe Joon staff are now earning more or less the same as their Air France counterparts. So that was a bit of a fail.

Why do you think a journalist has even seen the article? It would have been spewed out by a computer program and dumped on a website without human intervention or checking.

I would imagine you're thinking of Transavia there... and I have flown them twice and found them really good. Perhaps Joon was meant to be a cross between the two, a sort of Virgin Australia ;)

No, I'm familiar with Transavia. I know exactly what they are - a LCC. Joon, on the other hand, didn't seem to be either a LCC or a full-service carrier. That was probably part of the problem.

IMHO it's better when an airline picks one and does it well. Whether that's what VA is doing is... debatable. ;)

Silly me thought I saw the name of a journalist attached to the story. Seems like I have to get out a bit more...

Even if it happened as you describe, some human input would seem to be required.

That’s my take on it. I think the idea was to produce an airline based on the modern ‘hipster’ service model, and to attract customers with the buzz-centred approach that taps into the FOMO attraction.
Ultimately it just looked like a Disney ride. But I give them credit for trying something different.
