Hi,

I steadily have been building my point tally up to
50,000 so I can get aN award return flight from
JFK to LHR. I know the award was available to
FF early this year as I checked on the
"where you can go" portion of their web-site.
However, now Qantas's site no longer brings up
the award. I think the award would be with BA.

Did something happen or is this type of award
only available intermittengly.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It's a partner award, you need to call QF to organise it.

Definitely still available. No different to any other flight operated by any other OW member.

No, you don't need to ring QF - that would cost you 2,500 points.

Just go and make an award booking online and select New York and London as from/to.

The flights are operated by BA, and depending on how far ahead you want to book, there is very good availability in all classses.

Okay, I see what's going on. If you try to just calculate the number
of points required to go from JFK to LHR the Qantas web site
says no flights exists. If you try to book the award the flight comes
up. Its a bug in Qantas's web site.

Great. I can fly to London after all!

For some reason the points calculators only work for routes that QF operate themselves. Routes operated by other OW carriers will not work in the points calculators, but can still be booked.

Doing a "mock" booking gets around this problem - make a booking up to the stage that it says how many points, then cancel.

This doesn't help if you are trying to find out how many points you will earn on the route of another carrier.
