Re: JetStar Syd - coughet

Edit: Also relieved to see there are no negative comments about Bangkok Airways, as we are flying them to/from BKK - Koh Samui.

Last May I flew Bangkok Airways for HKT -> Koh Samui (USM) -> BKK and was overall content with service and flight. As usual, flight attendants provide good Thai hospitality on-board. A light snack and drink was provided on board.

Would not hesitate to fly Bangkok Airways again.

Re: JetStar Syd - coughet

If have flown this route a couple of time:

For Day flights (e.g. MEL-BKK)

J/K side is better than A/B as the Sun shines/sets on other side of aircraft.

If you are not over 6' I'd go 1J/K,2J/K

For overnight flights (e.g. BKK-MEL):

Best seat (IMO) 2D
#2 is 1E

For the four of you, 1E & 2D/E/F. If not then 1J/K,2J/K so the sun rise does not wake you.
Thanks, however I am 6'2, so would this change your recommendation? The rest of the family is well under 6', so provided at least one of the recommended seats has good legroom that would be ok.

I'm 183cm so am 5cm shorter that you. I fit neatly into the Bulkheads so you would be borderline..

If you can get 2D there's nearly 2 metres of space forward of it (slightly encroached on the right by seat 1E).

Other than that, if you are worried about bulkheads, go for 2/3 J/K (although with the seat in front reclines, tis harder to get out of your seat).

Re: JetStar Syd - coughet

Does anyone know where to find a seatmap for the J* A330? It is not on seatguru or seatexpert, and I can't find one on the J* website. I believe I can access one on the website, and then select my seats, if I could only log into my booking, but that is proving to be difficult. The bkg ref provided by QFF (it is an award booking) does not work, and when I rang J* they provided a different ref, but that still does not work .

Jetstar A330 seat map.

I concur with Serfty. I am 183 cm and my feet sit comfortably on the magazine rack on the bulkhead. A taller person might find the leg room a bit limited.

If ticketed by Qantas, you won't be able to select seats on line.

You can do a dummy booking on JQ.com for the flight(s) and "select seats" to see what is available.

Here's a link to a copy of the original Qantas 332 layout I recovered from a cache:

Re: JetStar Syd - coughet

Thanks all :). Used the phone contact and have selected the seats. 1E was not available on the MEL-BKK leg, so ended up with 1A/B, 2A/B, sunset should not be too much a problem. For return leg got 1E, 2D/E/F, so all looks good.

This is my first J* flight, so fingers crossed the wine does flow freely, and the food is passable ;).

Well done - especially with the return. :D

Don't underestimate the power of the sun. The window shades on the side of setting sun often need to be closed due to glare and can radiate quite a lot of heat after a bit. Also, generally viewing out of windows is better on the side away from a low sun.

You are correct of course, but 1J/K was already taken, and I am sure my infrequent flying family will be chuffed to have row 1.

Cool - note that the leg area of 1A narrows in from the left 5-10cm as the fuselage curves.

Re: JetStar Syd - coughet

I have flown a few flights now in *Class and would say most seats are fine legroom wise. I am 5'9 so seat 2D is overkill for me, all the seats have more than ample pitch.

Food-wise I think the food is on par with regular QF international economy while the service is a step above normal cattle class in QF. My favourite aspect of *Class are the status credits :D

Ok, so that is the seat I will put daughter no.2 (10yo) in, she should be fine.

Thanks, that sounds fine. Good, responsive service (especially filling the wine glass ;)) is the main requirement. Regarding the food, I will just have to hope I can get 3 guests into the FLounge pre-flight (worked last time, so fingers crossed)to ensure we have plenty of good food before flight. As my flight is an award there won't be any SC's, so can't use this benefit.
