Jetstar reward booking through Qantas website

Some friends and I have booked “Business” Jetstar reward flights to coughet through the Qantas website using points and paying the taxes. On the Jetstar booking it comes up as Business not Business Max (which includes lounge access)

After calls to both Jetstar and Qantas, it’s confirmed we won’t have lounge access. Whilst it’s not a big deal, it’s frustrating that this isn’t included as you get lounge access when booking a reward Business flight on Qantas. I am currently only a Silver member with QC membership but at the time of flying next year, I am not sure I will have QC membership.

Has anybody else had experience with this or any way around it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

The only way around it is if you were to cancel the award ticket and rebook the trip through the Jetstar website but even the Business fare won't get lounge access unless you add the Max bundle wth includes lounge access as well as status credits and ff points.

What did you pay per person in points and taxes for the HKT tickets?

The plus bundle cannot be added to JQ flights booked through the QF website whether a paid or award ticket.

When pricing a trip to DPS & HNL in the last few days I noticed the plus bundle was only AUD200.00 (HNL has been AUD500.00) so not sure if HKT is the same but definitely worth comparing a paid ticket before booking the award then leaving the points for other premium travel that isn't as affordable as JQ Star Class.

I'd imagine the best way around it is to vote with your points so to speak, and not book on Jetstar.

As for your lounge access next year, consider posting in the appropriate thread in the Lounge Meetups section closer to the date, so if you don't have QC and someone else is also flying they might be able to guest you access.

Addendum: If you currently have a personal QC membership and are not sure about renewing due to the cost, consider a corporate membership through AFF instead, see here.

We paid 48K (one way) in points and it was $194.00 in taxes. The time we are going the full fare with bundle is about $1500 (one way) so I thought the 48K wasn't bad. The Bundle alone was $500.

Yes to book the return flight, so still undecided what to do.

Thanks
Lisa
