Jetstar problems

I have recently used Silk Air, Asiana, and a couple of other cheapies who worked for me like a Swiss watch,

last I checked... Silk Air is the regional arm of Singapore Airlines and Asiana recently became one of Skytrax's few 5 Star carriers - so I'd expect nothing less than a "Swiss Watch"

Anat01 i also did that search-a little later 23/1/10 so as not to have holiday times and as well as the Nankai express there was a JR train at 2335.So something appears to have gone wrong on that day with the train services. Most unjapanese.
The only time we have flown SYD-KIX we chose to do it on CX via HKG,but then I am a points junkie and price is a secondary consideration.it was also part of a DONE4 I confess. As far as time goes virtually exactly the same time as JQ via OOL unless you wanted to risk a 1 hour transit at OOL.
So price was the consideration-no problems there but as the old saying goes you gets what you pays for.
Parispete-you got a lot of negative feed back probably because of A-the timing(first post a negative rant on Christmas day-my first thought was get a life) and B-you introduced a lot of irrelevant info(flying in the 60s has absolutely no relevance to flying LCCs today) which made you look a little precious.Sorry but first impressions are difficult to get out of one's mind.

"the same time as JQ via OOL unless you wanted to risk a 1 hour transit at OOL." (drron).

Can anyone confirm if JQ019 Syd-OOL does become JQ011 OOL-NRT.

I find this quite bad. This is purely canceled due to low loads, and it is not the first time its happened.

Howabout they just cut their losses and move back to 4 weekly..

Jetstar cancels Bali flight without notice
PASSENGERS waiting to fly to Bali were left stranded in Darwin after Jetstar cancelled a flight without warning.
David Wilson, 52, arrived to fly to Bali from Darwin's International airport on Monday morning but was told the flight had been cancelled.
"I wanted to check in and told the lady I was going to Bali - 'No, you're not,' she said," Mr Wilson told the Northern Territory News.
The Jetstar flight was scheduled for 7:30am on Monday but passengers were told the plane was in Bali for maintenance reasons and the flight had to be cancelled. "Nobody told me the flight had been cancelled until I got to the airport at 5.30 in the morning," Mr Wilson said.
.....

She said only 60 of the available 170 seats on the A320 flight to Bali had been booked.

But the definition of "unserviceable" can be taken to mean various things. The sceptics on the one side would say it was because of low loads, the people on the other side would say the opposite.

Regardless of those events, I find it pretty unreasonable that Mr. Wilson wants or expects to be reimbursed for costs already spent for his holiday. For what it seems like such a frequent flyer, has he heard of anything like travel insurance? A yearly policy maybe?

Also, JQ offered a taxi home, so he decided to rent a hire car instead? Again if I was JQ, I would not reimburse him for that.

This is disgusting.

Why aren't there class action law suits filed already? Are people dumb or just scared of Jetstar?

I think this is really why we need an EU style regulation to protect the rights of air travellers. Although travel insurance always helps too......

What is it with JQ and their planes failing at a rate of umpteen a week? I think some African airlines are kicking the **** out of JQ right now. This is completely dumb.

A little late to this one, but I will throw in my two cents.

Hi OP!

I also spent a number of years living in Japan and having returned to Australia in 2008 have flown JQ a fair few times between Australia-Japan. My girlfriend (who is still living in Japan) also frequently flies JQ. She likes the colour scheme on the planes and the snappy uniforms. I like that we can get return flights for dirt cheap.

In answer to your question, we have never experienced anything like your troubles. I have seen it happen to people around us on the plane, however. The moral of the story is READ THE JQ WEBSITE. It gives you the vouchers to print out and says that you will need to present these to get your stuff.

To divert slightly : this is the biggest problem with LCCs - customers that don't read their TOCs so they think they're owed a freebie flight when they're 10 minutes late to the cutoff for check in, or complain that they have to pay extra for a snowboard on JQ when a piece of sporting equipment is free on QF, etc.

However, if I am bilked on my booze, 30kg + 2 pieces carryon + lounge + comfort pack + VOD + whatever on my next trip, I'll be pissed off too. But then that's because I bought a starclass fare. :D

This is disgusting.
Is this what people are going to expect when QF moves more routes over to JQ? Flight cancellations whenever they feel like it? Removing routes that have low loads and blaming the economy for it?

What is it with JQ and their planes failing at a rate of umpteen a week? I think some African airlines are kicking the **** out of JQ right now. This is completely dumb.
Simply not good enough. And saying that JQ is a LCC is not a valid excuse....
