Do Jetstar offer priority boarding for Max bundle passengers when flying to Bali?

This will change next year with the new carry-on rules, with those paying for the 7kg up top getting priority boarding.

I just checked Bali routes and interestingly, from February, none of the bundles include the 7kg carry-on bag.

So buying a bundle will not get you priority boarding or a carry-on bag.

Virgin will likely price better for DPS once you add on all the ancillaries with JQ. I know a few people at work who was booking with Jetstar, told them at the final price stage to go and price a VA Choice fare, which was cheaper.

At most international terminals (excluding MEL, ADL and DRW (i think)), the CSO’s (check in, gate agents, etc) are contracted and not employed by Jetstar. These agents don’t receive commission on fees like the Jetstar employees do, so they’re usually less inclined to care. They also don’t have CBO’s (the agents who monitor baggage at the gate), so usually once you leave the check in area, you’re in the clear.

Despite this, they’re still trained to monitor baggage very closely, so they should be caring as much as they do at domestic terminals, but you can get lucky (as long as you’re nice, and not taking the piss).

The reason 14kg carry on isn’t allowed on long haul narrowbodies is because of weight and balance. The 321LR’s and 320’s often operate close to their MTOW on these routes, so any weight saving is worthwhile.

Once they switch to the new model all of this will change. There will be a new lid on how many carry ons are permitted, which will be flexible depending on the length of the route. The new rules are also black and white, so agents can’t just let you off with a few kg’s like they can now. CBO’s will be largely irrelevant as well, so Jetstar will be expecting more out of the GSP’s at the gate.
