Can WOL even take an A320 in RPT operations?

Could actually be good to see Jetstar have a smaller plane type to put on routes that don't quite support 180+ seat aircraft, although that undermines the low cost model (and could undermine the very profitable QantasLink). Not common, but some LCC's do operate smaller aircraft (such as Scoot and Indigo)

I reckon Jetstar would be good out of LEA (Exmouth) maybe a PER-LEA-SYD route a few times a week in the peak season (april-october) A lot of backpackers go through there and potentially a lot of demand if flights didn't all go through Perth and are expensive, but there definitely would be demand I would think given how many flights there are up to North Queensland. They have tried LEA-MEL using QF but it would be mostly leasure traffic, so that never really made sense to me. QF operates PER to LEA a few times daily, they might not want to cannibalise profits on that route. Another option could be LEA-BME-SYD possibly.

Sydney to Taipei, Sydney to Bangkok and Sydney to Hong Kong would be on my wish list.

For Hong Kong and Bangkok this might cannibalise some of Qantas bookings to these destinations so I can see why they might not consider them as routes.
Having said that, Hong Kong Airlines provides some pretty competitive fares across to Hong Kong so if Qantas don't want to lose their market share on this route, they should consider putting a Jetstar plane on this route.

I'd like a couple more destinations out of CBR, perhaps HBA and CNS.

I feel that the CBR market is doing well for them since starting a couple years ago OOL, BNE and and MEL do well so that’s why some competition for QF and VA from ADL would be great but HBA could be an option as well

Qantas very briefly operated MEL-LEA a couple years ago clearly demand wasn’t very good as they’ve never resumed it. I feel that BME might have more of a chance with JQ or perhaps some new routes to BQB

I actually think BQB would be a lot better for fit for Qantas than it is for Jetstar, there would be significantly more business class demand as there is a fair bit of high end tourism in the region and wealthy retirees.

I think MEL-LEA with QF didn't work because a lot of the locals and tourists are price sensitive backpackers and younger people going there for diving/snorkeling ect. I suspect Jetstar could extract some state government grants to give it another go

If Jetstar wanted to add another flight to its Bali roster I would like to see DPS-PEN added as there are no direct flights to Penang. Would also love to see another day flight DPS-MEL.

Internally in Indonesia, Yogyakarta would be wonderful, Scoot requires a time consuming backtrack from Singapore which has put me off making this trip.

Being completely selfish MEL-TPE, but that's because I adore Taiwan.

I have often wondered if there was a way that Jetstar could partner with Air Asia. That would open up so many more smaller routes but would necessitate flights to KUL (which again I would be all for).

They could do much more using NEO equipment into Australia that connects to all their hubs but they don’t seem interested.

I thought a NEO on DPS-MEL/SYD would have be a top priority. They failed with the 330 but the Neo is the weapon. I guess they don’t want to fork out a few grand each night to layover crews.

Would actually be nice for Jetstar to look at Asian beach/holiday destinations beyond just Bali and coughet? Or is it that Australians just aren't interested? I guess Cebu is a start. But places like Krabi, Danang, Lombok, Nha Trang etc come to mind.

Those other places are probably too sophisticated for JQ's bogan customer base.

But from a practical standpoint, Langkawi and Phu Quoc would be good ideas. Maybe even Jeju.

I think they have wanted more DPS capacity for a while but I don't think they can get more slots etc. Good idea I'm pretty sure they are considering LAS and CPT once their B788's get upgraded with crew rests. They'll need a new flagship LH route as MEL-HNL was suspended and SYD-HNL is getting suspended in a few months also.

I guess it depends on the yields they think they could get, but it would be I think unprecedented for a LCC to take on such routes. Was trying to think of the longest LCC route, globally (with regular public transport operations). The longest I could think of was ZipAir, Tokyo to Houston at ~6640 miles. Not sure if there are others*? But if Jetstar would stretch to LAX or LAS it would be 7500 and 7700 miles respectively, that's a fair bit further than NRT-IAH. PER-CPT might work though, it's similar in range to MEL-HNL

Another who would like to see direct flights to BDB from MEL or SYD.
That area is ready for tourism, and could see some terrific opportunities for those who loved Noosa and the sunny coast years ago but find it too busy now.
Turtles, amazing coastline, great weather, whales, ginger and of course rum - it could be a great tourist destination with direct flights. Bonza was onto something- just a shame their business model wasn't that good.

More of a what's in it for AirAsia. They would prefer you on their metal all the way, and don't think JQs cost base can compete with any of the AirAsia's.

TSV to DPS was trialled previously by JQ and only lasted a few seasons with some of the load coming up from BNE as the aircraft worked a BNE-TSV-DPS-TSV-BNE rotation.

May be a better chance of JQ operating MCY-DPS seasonal during the local winter months at 2-3 weekly (operated by the DPS base) as an "Escape from the Cold" of the Sunshine Coast (as well as attract those from the Northern Brisbane suburbs and Gympie/Fraser regions).

They are doubling the premium seat count on the 787s soon, so that might somewhat make it more viable. Economy Fares are $1200~ to LAS on full service carriers. Jetstar would need to be somewhat less with baggage to be competitive, I think full service fares to the US West coast are often competitive anyway.

They are also replacing the Y seats with the thin Recaro seat without IFE. Certainly not a great experience for those heading westbound. No thanks.

JQ, please don't kill the HNL flights. Am so disappointed by this.
