A month ago I got fed up, and no my rule is no Jetstar.
That is the spirit. I got fed up with Jetstar a long time ago and I have never flown them.

I wonder if I will ever fly Jetstar?

I've done a few SYD-MEL trips, a PER-SIN-PER and a PER-MEL-PER and have never experienced any issues at all... so a big YMMV I guess

Sure it is quite possible that some people do not experience any issues at all. And I have done 2 Aegean Airlines flights and both of them got cancelled and I was put on the next flight. And I am about to book Aegean Airlines again for 2 people return ATH-SKG. No choice of carrier unless I go by bus or train.

But here I DO have a choice and I am not going to book a trip with JQ to anywhere with accommodation pre-booked, car hire, possible onward flights just to have them reschedule flights or cancel flights.

Heaven forbid if JQ starts flying to Europe. How many destinations do they need to fly to before they start getting it right? How many people need to be inconvenienced before Qantas realises they have made a big mistake?

It's interesting for me that I've had more flight cancellations/reschedules with QF than I have with JQ.

Considering I saved $650 per pax. (3x650=1950 saving) on the dates I needed to fly it was a simple choice!

Just got back from Vietnam two days ago with Jetstar and had no problems.

Yes we did have a schedule change and received an SMS telling us to check our email. We checked email but hadn't received a new itinerary so we got on to the website and checked both our bookings.

The Ho Chi Minh/Hanoi return booking was unchanged but our Ho Chi Minh/Darwin flight was departing 30 minutes earlier. We had booked our Hanoi to HCMC connecting flight mid arvo to allow for any delays so did not impact us in any way.

It would be handy if JQ gave you the booking reference number in the SMS so you knew which one to check. Also highlights the fact that it's a good idea to have global roaming on your mobile.

Our flights we very good both ways but it helps when flight is not full. Only 48 pax DRW/SGN and a similar number I would say SGN/DRW. Everyone could easily have had 3 seats to themselves to lie down.

We had preallocated ourselves seats 9AC on forward flight but when we got to the airport JQ had moved us to the exit row 13DE and blocked off 13F. Same coming back we had allocated 6AC ourselves but arrived at the airport to be told we had been seated in the exit 12DF and they had blocked off the middle seat.

I sympathise with those whose flights have been cancelled. I would find that annoying also but I guess all you can do is make the best of a bad situation.

Cheers

Not only Jetstar who decide to change their flights on a whim.
Last year I was booked Denpasar-Singapore, and Qantas decided to change the flight's time without notifying me. The given reason for this was that I did not have an "onward" journey, so therefore it wouldn't interfere.

Yeah right; I was waiting to book a Jetstar Asia flight from SIN-BKK as Qantas don't fly that route. As there may have been a change to my work schedule I wasn't risking booking it and then losing it due to a schedule change.

They nearly cost me an overnight in Singapore simply because they couldn't be bothered to email or call me - whatever happened to customer service??

I can add a perspective to this thread. The issue outlined in the original post is not so much a cancellation as a schedule change. Jetstar have changed their MEL-BKK and BKK-Mel flights from Monday to Tuesday - now flying Tue / Thu / Sun which sort of makes sense.

The reason I know about this is last October I was booked to fly BKK-MEL on a Monday and it was changed to a Tuesday. I noticed it when checking my booking online - it was only a few days later I got a call from Jetstar.

For an urelated reason, I rescheduled my travel to this year (late July) and have since booked another trip (early June). Both flights BKK-MEL were scheduled for a Monday. I had in the back of my mind they may get changed to a Tuesday and was prepared for it - low and behold they were moved to Tuesday.

It seems that every six months or so they alternate between the two days! The bit I don't understand is why their advance flight schedules don't refelect this because it appears planned.
