Jetstar announces it is reducing flights between Australia and New Zealand due to the rising cost of jet fuel as a result of the war in the Middle East.
They have cut something similar across Australian domestic if you go digging but it seems that’s hasn’t been picked up yet.
Jetstar is heavily invested in medium to longer haul A321 ops which won’t be kind to the fuel bill either, with little ability to offset this via premium revenue. Not sure if we will see any complications at international outports, Vietnam has hinted at fuel challenges.
If this drags I’d expect them to start consolidating some international capacity in off peak ie Bali, they have considerable frequency but the yield would surely be thinning with all these new Bali flights, not an issue with fuel at the lower end but troubles start to arise once it becomes elevated.
