Jetstar and Air France/KLM to code-share out of OOL

I'd be cheesed off slightly if I was an AF/KLM customer travelling ex Europe and ended up on a Jetstar codeshare to Australia. Just thought I'd put it out there...

Considering the service you get on AF/KLM, and how they pack as many bodies into their A380’s as possible etc… it might be a step up for their customers. In any case, good fit.

Hmm so reports of not seeing JQ bookings on the QF site, JQ now codesharing with non-OW carriers. If based purely on this...

I smell a divestment.

Maybe Jetstar can join Skyteam. Would be a perfect fit. Virgin is more likely to join Star now. #pointlessspeculation.

Well I can hear cries of "Waar is mijn gratis eten en drinken" from here in Brisbane!

As other posters have noted, not much of a difference really...Good for the Gold Coast.

Sounds a bit odd...

Wouldn't Air France/KLM fly through Asia to get to Oz?? And therefore couldn't a better codeshare partner be found to fly their customers to Japan from HK, KUL, or SIN rather than choosing an LCC from Oz???

For all the hate I give AF/KLM they do have a fairly extensive network (including partners). This could just be about filling a gap they think it's worthwhile to fill.

Jetstar is the only airline which flies internationally from OOL to Japan - the QF and JL flights are codeshares on the JQ metal. If you have someone from Netherlands or France wanting to fly to the Gold Coast, this would be pretty much the only one-stop option.

Maybe gold coast tourism can market directly to the European back packer market. I noticed a recent report saying that that particular market has dried up for Aussie tourism.
