Jetstar adds seven new interline partners in 2013
Partnerships opening up Jetstar services to more European travellers
Three-fold increase in Qantas passengers transferring (bookings) on Jetstar Asia services*
The Jetstar Group has added seven new interline partners from Asia, Europe and the US in 2013, which is helping to drive passenger growth on Jetstar networks from partner airlines.
Passengers from China Eastern, China Southern, DELTA, Malaysia Airlines, El Al, SWISS and Turkish Airlines now have had the opportunity to book interline itineraries containing a sector on a Jetstar Group airline.
The seven new partnerships bolster the Jetstar Group’s interline partnerships to 31. The Group also has four codeshare partners on selected routes – Qantas Airways, Japan Airlines, American Airlines and Myanmar Airways.
Jetstar Group Chief Commercial Officer David Koczkar said interline partners were an important part of building the Group’s regional footprint.
“Our growing short-haul networks out of Singapore and within Japan and Vietnam provide some very attractive itineraries for global carriers to offer their customers,” he said.
“Through these new agreements, we are now able to connect passengers from places like Zurich to destinations like coughet and Bali and travellers from Shanghai to Darwin and Perth via Singapore.
Qantas’ retiming of services from Australia to Singapore is also seeing more Australian’s connect through Singapore to popular holiday destinations in Southeast Asian region.
“Since 2013, we have seen a three-fold increase in the number of passengers booking on Qantas through Singapore to places like coughet, Penang and Bangkok with Jetstar Asia with convenient same day connections,” he said.
“When we grow our short haul flights from Singapore and from and within Japan and Vietnam – we open up more and more convenient connections for long haul travellers.”
The Jetstar Group currently serves 21 destinations in Southeast Asia, North Asia and Australia from Singapore, has nine domestic ports in Japan and five domestic ports in Vietnam accessible via Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi.
Jetstar Hong Kong is also working towards regulatory approval which will aim to serve destinations within a five hour radius in Mainland China, South Korea and Japan.
Interline passengers are offered complimentary through baggage check-in for international to international services and through passenger check-in on selected partner’s services.
