Hi All,

I was recently on a Jetstar flight between Melb and Hobart. I purchased the plus bundle so I had a $5 spend in the plane.

On the flight from Melb to Hobart, I was allowed to use the $5 spend on a gift voucher.

On the Hobart to Melbourne leg, i was told I was not allowed to.

Anyone else had this experience or know what the appropriate answer is?

Thanks in advance.

show them your boarding card next time, it should have a code on it that confirms you paid for the plus bundle and are entitled to the voucher. i'd lodge a complaint about this instance so hopefully someone gets the required training.

It should have said V05A on your BP. If it did, then you would have been entitled to $5 of F/B. I quite often need to show my boarding pass (i.e. I have to prompt them & not the other way around), but otherwise have never had problems. I'd follow up with Jetstar.

I don't think you're supposed to be able to use them for gift vouchers.

Actually, I think you're right. From the JQ website:

  • The inflight voucher can only be used up to the value stated for Jetstar food and beverages on Jetstar Airways (JQ); and Jetstar food, beverages and other products on Jetstar Asia (3K) and Jetstar Japan (GK). The inflight voucher must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if the recipient is unable to use it as stated. The inflight voucher is not redeemable for cash or other goods and services.

So is the voucher basically for onboard F&B?

Can you save the vouchers and use a few at the same time?

I don't believe so.

:(, so basically it's a bit of a cash grab. Virtually forcing people to buy on board by including the $5 in the fare, then pricing most things (presumably) higher than $5. Can you buy much for $5? If for example a breakie flight, is there much there for $5?

Basically, yes.

You can't get much for $5, but from memory the kids combo (a cookie & drink) and the muffin & coffee combo are both exactly $5.

Thanks for that Mattg. The muffin and coffee sounds OK for $5 I guess. Sounds a bit like VAs included food offer. Is the muffin bigger than a 20c piece? ;)

I also tried a week ago to buy the voucher with the Plus Pack allowance - the flight attendant didn't know so checked with the CSM and was told - on-board food and beverage only

Well, to misquote Animal Farm, some $5 are more equal than other $5... ;)

I always get a bottle of water because the coffee is cough and the muffin goes straight to my muffin top haha

Having something on the menu to buy is one thing, but then being told, (Not available/sold out) is another.
Don't look forward to that muffin when all they might have is KitKats as in the chocolate bar.

So far I've never had an issue with the muffin being unavailable. It's also huuuge compared to the VA crumb.

QF gave me a chicken wrap on todays 13.40 ADL - MEL flight.
Don't know what JQ gave to pax who paid the package deal on the late 15.25 ADL - MEL flight.
Better than a muffin.
