Whilst I'd heard about this crazy guy who built a jet-powered "aircraft" then strapped it onto his back and jumped out of a perfectly good airplane to test it

The negatives of this new way to travel :

* No FF points or sectors
* No F&B on the flight
* You're the pilot, you'd better not get lost or crash
* Limited distance due to small engine capacity
* Lots of noise during the flight
* Lack of oxygen at high altitudes

The positives:

* No bad service from air crew
* No annoying seat-mates
* No need to choose a seat (or find your favourite has been taken)
* Take-off whenever you want (do you have to log a flight plan with ATC?)

With thanks to meloz for the link.

Umm slightly contradictory - you can take off whenever you want - if you have a plane to jump out of ;)

Whilst I'm not an aeronautically-minded person, it doesn't appear that you need to be free-falling from a plane in order to start the engines...you may be able to do so from the ground, although standing up would be preferable than lying down :idea:

Don't quite know why but the term "Darwin Awards" comes to mind :!:
