I imagine Hayman are delighted to have the orange cancer flying there now.

We have been called by Jet**** to be told that they are taking us off our morning direct flight from Hamilton Island to Melbourne to be rerouted via Sydney, arriving in melbourne late at night.

Why?

Because our "flight" - no it is a launch transfer actually - arrives in Hamilton too late to catch the flight to Melbourne from Hamilton. We have tried explaining ad nauseum to them that the launch doesn't even have a schedule and just goes to meet each flight to MEL or SYD but have someone telling us robot-like that we can't get to the flight in time. My wife has been on the phone for the second time in two days, for forty minutes and counting trying to find a supervisor or manager.

Seriously it is all just too much trouble. Not sure it is even worth trying to persevere.

Sounds like you are talking to a call centre based overseas, perhaps someone else here on the site may be able point you in the right direction so that you can talk to a human being in Australia whom may be more helpful and less scripted.

That would be helpful. Given that they don't know what or where Hamilton and Hayman are, we are really behind the eight ball here. I am preparing an email to Hayman to ask them to go via a back channel. Due to time pressures I don't know if I can go at all unless I get the earlier flight, and the days before are school holidays, and flights are probably booked out.

...
edit

After over an hour and speaking to a supervisor, they finally "informed" us that there is no advance schedule this far out for the launch...the funny thing is, we didn't call them, they called us, and all we told them in reply was to please not do anything, don't change the flight, don't cancel the launch, don't do anything, and they refused for a whole hour! I'm curious as to how many people actually didn't pick up on what they were saying and actually agreed to take the later flight. And apparently Hayman are dealing with a crowd of people who are asking them what is going on.

Maybe call the number here: 03 9347 0091 - in Australian business hours - its the JQ Holidays call centre or Head Office 03 8628 3400 and its possible you may get through to Option 2 Jetstar Holidays (apparently the call centre is in Melbourne) - and ask them to put you through to someone senior and ask them why their overseas phone operators aren't aware of the existence and timings of the Hayman Is ferry - seeing as they sell Hayman Is holidays on their web site.

Telephone Number 131 538 (+61 3 9347 0091)
Head Office (03) 8628 3400

Best of luck and hope its sorted out to your satisfaction.

Gotta love call centres.

I got a call one day from my old works call centre and asked me to sort out a problem.

It was a very minor issue but it mean't a 1000km round trip to comply with our own policies.

After discussions with my manager we decided that we would get it posted to them. It was a $2 off voucher was missing off our product.

Sorry yes. We got them to call Hayman while we held.

Apparently the boat transfer usually costs $300 EACH?!

We had it included for free

I assume you mean the cost of the launch transfer is (or should be) included in the price of the Hayman Is hotel package?

For $300 each I would be expecting a gold and silver plated hull with hot and cold running butlers/flunkies/shoe shiners plus supermodels holding umbrellas and feeding you caviar by hand!

We got super-discounted jet* flights including boat transfer. Three people= $1000 return normally. Absolutely insane. normally that sort of transfer would be included in a hotel price in my experience. Beautiful setting here, but not the best-run hotel.

for $300 per person I would be expecting travel by helicopter, not by boat.

I suppose there is no alternative to jet star?

It is I, Leclerc !

IIRC, only Jetstar and Virgin fly into Hamilton Island. On one or two days/week, it might be possible to fly QF/qantaslink ex-Cairns.

Wasn't this thread is about Hayman Island? (nearest airport is Proserpine).
