Hi

Was looking to book a JASA in J to Santiago in Feb/Mar 13.

SYD-SCL is good @ around 140K points but SCL-SYD all are in the 500K range.

Does anybody have any smart suggestions on getting to Santiago and accruing Status Credits?

Hi

Even that is expensive. I booked a JASA Syd-Scl rtn in J in Nov for 192K pts + $750 in taxes but that was at T-353 days:shock:

There's not a great number of options.

Try redeeming on LA via akl or la or AA via lax. But that requires availability to lax from aus and increases the travel time. Also try akl-scl with la without the aus connection and buy aus-akl-aus.

La also fly Papeete-scl so that opens up one other option/combination.

You need to find U class each way showing on KVS/EF/FlightStats - however, to be honest it is a bit late to be looking in Sept 12 for Feb/Mar '13.

If you can find it, looking at early September '13, on the QF codeshares on LA metal it's currently running at 192K QFF and $950+++ (or 276K QFF all up).

Finally got a classic award and a JASA for 192K each and $600 and $900 in taxes respectively flying on Lan metal in March. Very happy now!

Hi Guy's Im now looking at flying to SA at the end of the year and I know I have left it very late for ASA's however have been lucky engough to see a 1 way ticket available at the right time to SCL, only problem is how do I get home!! from SCL I'll be going to Guayaquil and can get SCL -GYE return for a reasonable price just cant seem to get back to Oz. I have been doing some searches on Expedia and have found flights from Rio on LAN and Qantas for $2,400 in business class which ironicliy routes trhough SCL on Qantas. As it adds alsmost an extra $1,000 - 1,500 to get up to Rio is it possible to buy the flights and forfiet the first two secotrs and just fly from Santiago? or does this ultimatley cancel the whole trip. Happy to pay for the whole trip and just not fly it...

$2400 one way from anywhere in SA to Aus is stupidly cheap in J for LA/QF so i'd probably look to book that ASAP.

However, you cannot dump initial sectors in a booking. You can get away with not flying remaining sectors (although in theory the airline can reprice the fare and bill you in practice that almost never happens). But a no show for any segment means the remainder of the itinerary is cancelled.

By not flying the first legs, chances are you will cancel the entire trip.

I know you can give QF advance notice with the domestic trips, however international is probably a whole different story.

Similar situation here. Cannot come back to Oz from SA... So I used my AA miles to fly to LAX, then bought a $1500 one-way Y ticket LAX-SYD.

Just an update and some advice needed, I have found a combination of flights however have to be booked separately and on separate websites. Firstly can book SCL-GYE:X GYE-SCL:X SCL-GRU:X on expedia.com $1,800 USD or $1,750 AUD then from GRU-SYD (stopping in SCL,AKL) booked through LAN.com.au for $4,964.00 AUD. for 2 pax. the flight into Sao Paulo arrives at 1am and then the flight to Sydney leaves at 5:30pm on the same day so I'm just wondering if there is any benefits or disadvantages for booking the flights separately considering I will be flying out on the same day. I called LAN this morning and they can book the whole trip on one itinerary however their flights are $350 extra for the same flights which will basically be the cost of the flights form Sydney back to the gold coast. Is there any benifit in trying to go to a travel agent to book this?
