Japan! - Naoshima and others

Just wondering have any of you been to Naoshima, and have you done it as a day trip from Takamatsu or Okayama or did you stay on the island.

Also, have any of you visited Shimoda on the Ito Peninsula, closer to Tokyo?

I am currently looking at 4-5 days in Japan in late May / early June next year. Just trying to check out a few places I haven't yet been to.

Just to close the loop on this one. I wound up staying in Izu Inatori but drove through Shimoda. Shimoda was very quiet but looked a nice town. More broadly I thoroughly enjoyed my three days on the peninsula and would recommend it. Having a car was very helpful but public transport is manageable for getting around for the most part.
