Can anyone suggest an easy way to tell from Google Maps if a train station in Japan is part of the JR line? i can tell the major station are bigger slightly shaded red/pink blocks but i can't tell if they are JR or private..
I've tried using hyperdia but it's still difficult to determine :(

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

i'm not trying to work out how / where to get to places, but more in terms of how close the accommodation is to the JR station. Anyways problem solved, if you zoom in they are the teal lines with black bars/stripes. Otherwise typing in 2 destinations into Google map will sometimes show you the actual JR line itself.
