JAL having really good J class fares to Europe- would you dare to book?

We are also looking at MEL to LHR in Sept. JAL looks good, but the transfer between airports is putting me off. The problem is that I can't find any information on how the transfer takes place? Is it up to us to organise or is it done by JAL.
Maybe someone can set me straight.

Or do what I did and fly MEL-NRT on way and HND-SYD on way back using points for SYD-MEL on QF

I'm trying to get from KUL to LAX in May. JAL offers the best option in J but some flights still require a change of transit airport. Too hard during the pandemic.

Not brave enough to fly PR. Also, I'm trying to stick to OW carriers.

I'll probably book KUL-LAX via NRT in PE and JFK-KUL in J. RM13k/A$4.2k. Not too bad.

If I can change airport in Tokyo then a lot more options but not likely by the time I need to travel.

Have you tried looking out of BKK? Usually good QR deals to be had from there too.

CGK and MNL are often the cheapest QR prices to Europe

And I don’t mind CGK, the inter terminal transit and new terminal 3 make CGK fairly pleasant to catch cheap J fares

Good point. I think good advice to OP is to use ITA Matrix/Google Flights and play around with various gateways at both ends of the trip and classes of travel too. Premium Economy might present better value. A few random searches I came up with CGK-LAX//ORD-KUL for $5500 in J on JAL.

Just found out it may not be possible to do an overnight transit at NRT. Going back to the drawing board to find alternatives.

QR to KUL-DOH-SFO is often cheaper than KUL-DOH-LAX
16 hours in Q suites is a pretty decent way to travel 🤣
Cheap flight to MNL and get Q suites on both legs to SFO for $5k

That's a long way to go to SFO but the Q suites and the extra SC will make the journey a lot more pleasant. I may need to go there and was planning to drive up from LA. Thanks for the tip.
