Jakarta transit - visa still required

Is there still no other option other than a $50 visa for a less than 24 hr transit in Jakarta?
Our travel plans got stuffed around so now we are arriving 7:30 am on Qatar, departing 8:45 pm on Qantas to Sydney. I understand there is no way to get around this? And cheaper to get the visa in advance….

have sneaking suspicion that CGK doesn’t like electronic BPs - at least not for international flights. I’ve never been able to get one from the QF app (returning home), nor QR or CX heading outbound.

I got one for QF42 two weeks ago

The downside is if we’re on time or early, CGK T3 landslide isn’t a great place to twiddle thumbs with luggage for 2-3 hrs.
