Hi All,

I've a couple of post 20:00 J flights coming up: QF636 MEL-BNE and QF497 SYD-MEL.

TBH I don't expect anything on the 497 (except a bit of peace'n'quiet!) - can anyone please advise as to what I can expect to be served as "refreshment" on the 636?

Regards,

BD

Interesting there's no feedback here.

I used to be a regular on the last SYD-MEL of the day but normally in economy and it was in the period 25 to 15 years ago.

If you're in J you probably will still get a full meal - whereas in economy you'll get something you'd normally receive on a regional Dash-8 flight as opposed to a 'dinner' flight a couple of hours earlier where you will get a full meal such as lamb biryani or butter chicken.

Yes, I'm in J - per the Thread Title ...

Thanks for the info. Had a recent "Y evening refreshment" on MEL-ADL - resembled something VA would have been proud to offer as a snack ...

On a recent 9pm MEL-SYD got a Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni.

Was ok but glad id grabbed a plate in the Biz Lounge prior

Supper flights are a choice of a hot option, soup or cheese.

The last time I did QF497, I had the dumplings as the hot option.

Here are some of the current supper options
  • Caramelised masterstock braised pork belly with jasmine rice and steamed gailan.

  • Spinach and ricotta cannelloni with tomato ragu and basil pesto.

  • Pie of slow braised beef, mushroom and shiraz with roasted potatoes and tomato relish.

  • Pork and native green dumplings with stir fried Asian greens and salted chilli.

  • Fried rice with char siu pork, ginger and shallot.

  • Nasi goreng with chicken. Fried egg and shallots.

It's a few months ago now but we had full meals offered on a post 20:00 flight up from SYDNEY to BNE. Pasta of some kind if I remember rightly.

Well Qantas seems to have picked up its game if that's what's available on domestic supper flights now :)

Wasn't it previously a choice of soup, a salad or a cheese box?

That's all we've ever been offered.

QF SYD - MEL, while not the same as yours, I have done a 6pm, in Y and got a boxed pasta meal.
In J, about that time, would have to full meal service, and I would not expect anything less.
But you will have lounge access, and by the time you fly, maybe the MEL QFd J lounge would have finished being refreshed/updated/changed.
In Y apart from lunch/dinner, I would expect 5 crackers oblong crackers and a dip, maybe a muffin...
But in J, it would be better.
QF when I have flown J after coming back from NZ, east coast Au to ADL in the evenings, have never disappointed.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

Have now concluded this little jaunt - mostly as described above, light (substantial over Y) snacks including soups or cheese.

I've posted details (including photo for each) in the Domestic and International Business Class meals thread
