J Class Qantas FF rewards booking - Unable to chose my seat.

I have booked a J class rewards ticket from Mel- LHR with Qantas and onward to Milan Linate with BA (all on one ticket). When I go into "manage my booking" using the Qanats PNR # it won't let me choose my seat on either leg. I'm not surprised I couldn't choose it on the BA leg but I would have thought I could on the Mel -LHR leg. Any ideas why? Thanks

All seats accessible by you (as whatever FF tier you are) may be taken already, or there may only be one seat left.

Has the ticket actually been issued yet?

There are free seats showing, even in row 12 so in theory a seat should be selectble.

The only other thing I can think of is that it is fairly full and perhaps the percentage of prealloated seats allowable may have been reached (not entirely sure if this is a thing still).

Yes the ticket has been issued. I'm a only bronze FF so maybe @encryptededdy you are right and I don't have access yet to choose a seat. Weird though because on the return flight (with emirates I can choose my seat). But I will not spend 3 hours on the phone calling Qantas to try and choose a seat!!!

It is a bit odd that you can't pick given Richard mentions there are free seats showing, even in the rear rows.

Anyway, you can try again 80 hours out from the flight where all seats will be unlocked (regardless of the fact that you're Bronze)

Here's what I see for the map for QF9 24/5/22:

given the seats showing as open (note as P1, so a Bronze would not see say row 1 as available, but should see in 11 and 12 at least) I do find it odd.

is it for only one pax? if two there may be an issue possibly.
