Hi,
Just trying to get some advice on an upcoming trip.

Based in MEL but need to get to AKL and TPE in the same trip (MEL-AKL-TPE-MEL?)
As this is a work trip, hoping for all of this to be in J
Just wondering if a circle asia & SW pacific J fare is best $$ wise? rather than MEL-AKL return and AKL-TPE return.
With the circle pacific, I presume I cannot backtrack, so may have to go MEL-AKL-HKG-TPE-NRT-SYD-MEL? (one world preference route)
Any advice from anyone who has done a circle asia and SWP much appreciated!
Thanks,
KitKat

Trying using the iteniary planner on the one world web site.

This will give you all the flight options.

Then you will need to call QF sales or see a travel agent to get a costing because the fare is based on mileage.

I use a cirlce asia fare for regular PER-SYD-NRT-HKG-PER all in J and the fare is around $5,900 depending on taxes.

In comparsion, PER-HKG-PER with QF is $5,500 - for an extra $400 I get SYD + NRT included.

You have to go to both South East asia(HKG,SIN BKK etc) and North East asia(China,Japan korea and TPE) so yes you need to put in HKG.Problem is that takes you over 13000 miles so takes the fare to $6499 + taxes.Though if you buy a fare AKL-HKG-TPE-NRT-SYD-MEL it comes under 13000 miles and will cost $NZ5999 + taxes plus a fare MEL-AKL.

Would it be more economic to do SYD-AKL on LA (cheap J), then buy a return AKL-TPE (via HKG +/-Aus) and get off on the return in Aus (and save up the Aus-AKL segment of another trip)? MEL-SYD would be a doddle in Y so still cheap.

Just wondering with the realtive strength of the Aussie vs the NZD.

ie. Go MEL-SYD (Y)
SYD-AKL (LA J)

AKL-HKG-TPE-HKG-MEL

Save MEL-AKL for another trip.

An alternative would be MEL-SYD
SYD-AKL-SYD on LA
AKL-TPE (via HKG) and ret to AKL.

I'm not sure i've expalined that very well.

AKL-TPE-AKL looks to be NZD6034.00 on CX.

Add LA J SYD-AKL-SYD for ~ A$800

Add MEL-SYD-MEL (choose your own price structure).
