I haven't flown international business class to Europe since the QF-EK tie up.

Can those of you who travel J a lot SYD (or MEL, BNE) - DXB - Europe (ZRH in my case) advise me on how strictly EK (in Sydney or Dubai) police the dimensions of cabin baggage?

I'm flying QF marketed EK metal in J. A380 then 777. If flying Qantas, they allow and I would use two 115cm bags (Crumpler Dry Red 7 and Spring Peeper Medium). But Emirates website says:
"Business Class customers are permitted two pieces of carry-on baggage: one briefcase plus either one handbag or one garment bag. The briefcase may not exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20cm); the handbag may not exceed 22 x 15 x 8 inches (55 x 38 x 20cm)"
ie., one 115cm and one 100cm, but they don't appear to use linear size, more of a maximum box size.
(I know mass is also a consideration, but am asking about dimensions.)

Thanks.

I've flown upwards of 15 times in J ( A380's & B777's )on EK and never been questioned by EK themselves. The only time I have had to offer my bags for size testing was prior to entering the sterile area at BNE. (down the escalator prior to security) and then it was only a weight test not size.

Not sure about Sydney but in MEL the EK check-in staff were very strict on weight... something about the laptop bag vs the carry-on bag...
Not sure of the details but we had come back from all around the US with QF/ Delta and with exactly the same bags - three between us (2 x J/F WP pax) 2 laptops and 1 carry on - with no problem.. Only had hassles with EK MEL-AKL... no problem AKL-MEL.
In the end (after a chat with the supervisor) they let us through so it may just depend on the person and how many times they have been yelled at that day :(
Good luck :)
