Hi, sorry to make this my first post, but as there is a death in the fam, I need to get to LHR in the next 5 days or so and would like to hear of any real cheap business flts specials that anyone's aware of please. Not fussed on food or movies, but need my bum to be in a soft seat.

A 2 day stop over, or even 2 s/o, will help ease the sore back too - all suggestions would be most welcome.

China Southern via Guangzhou and Amsterdam (last leg on KLM) prices at just over $5k

Just search on one of the multi-engines

You could also go economy to Asia (usually Singapore or Bangkok) and then buy a Asia - Europe in Business Class. You can get really cheap fares from Asia-Europe whereas there arent many cheapies from Australia. Use Bestflights to search for the flights.

PS Just had a look and it looks like that Bestflights isnt going to give you any fares out of Bangkok>Europe until Sunday (for some odd reason). Air India has flights BKK-Mumbai-LHR and return for ~$3k. Then you have $2k to play with between Aus and BKK. Up to you if you think its worth the hassle.

Cheapest direct Aus-Europe flights I can see are sitting at over $7k return.

"Hong Kong Airlines has launched a business-class-only service between London and Hong Kong. The airline is flying one service a day on Airbus A330-200s between Gatwick and Chek Lap Kok.
Reported and advertised fares have been running about a half to a third of the cost of business class on Cathay Pacific".

haven't looked, but Royal Jordanian usually have ~$3K Business Class return from BKK and/or KUL, plus add a cheap return economy fare to either of those? :\

Also airlines have been known to make special fares available to people who have to make travel bookings at the last minute for funerals. Although I have only had experience with this for economy fares. Once only pricy last minute fares were available I managed to have a fare made available for me at normal price.

I would try calling an airline explain your situation and ask if they are able to accommodate you some way. They might say no. But it is worth a try,

VN's doing cheap J flights to SYD/MEL-LGW at the moment (~$4k). Sample dates ex-SYD: out 16/4 or 17/4, return 21/4, 25/4 or 27/4...

(As are Royal Brunei to LHR, although it's a dry airline)

or garuda return in biz class for around $3600 (current advertised special, not sure about availability) - to amsterdam, but easy to get to UK from there. Flight time is long with several hours connection in Jakarta. Stopover on way back could be in Bali.

There was a post here earlier today about RGN-SIN-LHR for $850 round trip with Singapore Airlines in business. Sure, you still need to get to RGN but you now have a lot of room to work with. Will add an extra stop but if the RGN-SIN-LHR in business (with the amazing flat bed) is true it may make it worth it!

There was a post here earlier today about RGN-SIN-LHR for $850 round trip with Singapore Airlines in business. Sure, you still need to get to RGN but you now have a lot of room to work with. Will add an extra stop but if the RGN-SIN-LHR in business (with the amazing flat bed) is true it may make it worth it!

I got a good fare in business on Qatar JAK - DOH - LHR.

I made a major mistake not booking a return fare mainly as the MEL QR office phone was out of order all day when I rang for advice on coming home via IST, I went ahead and booked o/w to get the last seat.

So, I'm holding a QF SYD - JAK return.

Now I'm really running out of time to orgainsed before I take off for the funeral.

I would really welcome any suggestions on getting back. Basically I want to go ...

LHR - IST - JAK.

I just don't know the best way around it. Any suggestions, anything at all plse?
