Hi All, hoping to be able to leverage the collective experiences of AFF members regarding companies that do tours of Italy. The gentleman has agreed to pay for his mother to go on a well earned holiday and she has decided she would like to go to Italy. She is 60 years old, fit enough to be able to get about but not super fit (no cycling tours please!).

She lacks the confidence to travel by herself and would also enjoy the company of others, so she has decided she would like to do a tour.

The tour would probably be for 2/3 weeks, taking in a number of different Italian regions and probably more focused on an older crowd so she would feel comfortable about fitting in.

Has anybody done a tour of Italy with a tour company? Know of anyone who has? Any recommendations?

Thanks
LadyC

I used Trafalga to travel through Eastern Europe. Mostly Hilton Hotels. Mostly over 50's. Excellent value. Friends I met on that trip went on to Italy with Trafalga and raved about visiting a Countess at her Villa where she cooked a beautiful meal for them all. They travel every year together and said it was best experience they've had.

I've also used Cosmos to do the Italian Lakes (cheaper), but the hotels were very basic and the tour guide completely disinterested to the point of rudeness. Also used Cosmos throughout Norway and Finland. Also very basic hotels. Tour guide disinterested and he just read Lonely Planet aloud to us.
