Hi

Has anyone had any success trying to convince a TA or airline to agree to the quote provided by the ITA Software (or the OnTheFly app) when you specifically state to them the flights, codes etc when booking? All of my attempts so far have been laughed off literally.

Cheers

If your itinerary does not include mixed classes you can sometimes replicate it through hipmunk, which will then allow you to ticket at an online travel agent. Hipmunk has the advantage of using the same syntax for advanced searches as ITA matrix. There are tutorials on this: try Scottrick's blog or Wandering Aramean's blog for more information.

What cities are you flying in between?

The majority of travel agents probably wouldn't be able to do it (not sure about Travel Guru on AFF) but I would try direct via the airlines' own website.

If that didn't work you could always try the Expedia website for the country where the travel is commencing from. I remember somebody having success with an airfare ex SIN they saw on ITA/Matrix & they ticketed successfully through Expedia.sg.

The Hipmunk option mentioned in by quokka77 sounds good.

I downloaded the app only last night and had a play with it. I only tried one trip-BNE-KTM. OnTheFly was able to be matched by the SQ website. That was all I tried.

I've managed to replicate odd multi-city routings using the AMEX USA online travel service and through one of the English language Expedias. Hipmunk is definitely a great starting point and then from there just keep trying similar services until you find it.

Hi Oz

We are travelling from BNE to ABZ (Aberdeen UK).

I've been on many of the airlines own websites and they don't offer the same flights (in either combination or in price) as the ITA app, so I have tried to get a TA to use the codes without success.

I'll try hipmunk and see how it goes. I guess there is always the .br website

cheers

Can you point me in the right direction to the blogs you refer too?

Not sure what you've been quoted but you could book a BNE/SIN return via our Brazilian friends then looking at Matrix - ITA Software the cheapest ex SIN fare to ABZ is on KLM for SGD1,532.80 (AUD1,303.39) based on departing in August. I would compare the cost of booking direct on the KLM website vs Expedia.sg

Note that you would need to collect your bags in SIN & recheck as QF will not through check to KL on separate tickets but you could go to the transfer desk in SIN & ask for the bags to be retagged which would save you from having to clear customs.

It might even be a better idea to overnight in SIN on the way out to eliminmate the stress of a possible missed connection.
