Hi I am new to using Krisflyer points (via Velocity transfers) and am looking for J flights from IST-MEL & IST-DPS. I looked first thing 355 days out at 8am Singapore time and unfortunately the flights were immediately put on waitlist so waiting for the next release. I have noticed that the points required under saver is 99k for the IST-MEL flight and 167k for the Advantage reward. The points required for IST-DPS is 56k saver and 103k advantage.

My questions are why is the IST-MEL route more expensive in advantage compared to destinations in Europe that are further away (eg LHR-MEL or BCN-MEL are 154k and much longer flights). Why are flights priced at such a premium but priced at such a bargain for the saver flights compared to the saver from those other Europe destinations?

But that doesn’t answer the question of why an advantage award IST-AU is more expensive than Europe-EU, when the equivalent saver award is much cheaper ex IST than EU.
Spot on.. that is what is confusing me. The advantage rate IST to MEL is 13k higher than ex EU while the saver rate ex IST to MEL is 31.5k less points than ex EU. It really only makes sense to book it if I can get a saver award (which seems impossible as I pressed f5 constantly until it was released but it was instantly waitlist)
