Is there a VA DPS lounge?

According to the website they are still using a Temp lounge.

When I was in the new terminal in DPS there was only one lounge available - the PREMIER LOUNGE - and it was and still is temporary.

It seems that to get the new terminal open, things like lounges and restaurants were a secondary consideration.

The new, permanent PREMIER LOUNGE is scheduled to open in September 2014.

Did you go in? Did they seem to get so full that they turned people away?

Yes I went in. It was nearly empty at the time. Not much on offer - some snacks and limited drinks - but there was nothing much in the main terminal either!

But it's a new terminal, still under construction, so things will change.

We used the DPS Premier Lounge earlier this year, it was at 70% capacity around 10pm and got progessively less crowded as it got closer to our mid-night departure on VA. Temporary is a good way to describe it though, it is actually just set up in spare open space.

Will be departing on Wednesday week on a late VA flight, so will be looking to kill some time and snacks trying to get some sleep o/night

As of 3 weeks ago, Temp lounge is just a cordoned off gate lounge with a few sandwiches, fridge with beer and soft drinks plus a coffee dripper.

You have to leave the 'lounge' to go to the regular airport bathrooms.

Table at the entry was barely staffed, anyone could walk in (surprised they didn't actually).

I wouldn't get there early hoping to enjoy the lounge.

We were there a few weeks after the new terminal opened. Sounds like not much has changed from then.

There were three of us travelling and they wanted 150,000 IRP for our son (who was 12 at the time) to enter the "lounge". We had off loaded all our IRP and only had AUD and our credit cards. There was about 15 eftpos/credit card machines on the desk and none of them worked and they weren't going to let us in. Luckily there was another Aussie behind us who still had IRP which we were able to swap for AUD.

And the facilities were nothing to get excited about. A little bit of curried rice, some small cake things and beer.

I was in the "Premier Lounge" yesterday evening, it is the noisiest lounge I have ever been in. They made announcements every 5 seconds, and at full volume.

I just hope the guy who was called 40+ times eventually made his flight.

The former Premier Lounge in the old terminal was coughola, as is the current one.
IMO the new terminal of DPS is more spacious, though the luggage & immi. is still very slow at peak times.

Also understand, it's just a temporary lounge though. So wait and see.

Our hotel organised express processing through the airport, so for us the whole thing was quick.

I noticed Priority Pass says the lounge restricts drinks to 2 per visit. How on earth would they police that?

What a joke! I certainly had more than two drinks each time I visited the lounge in question.
What a miserable third party contractor.

I'll report back in a few weeks. If they're in a fridge in a lounge then I have no idea how they'd police it.

The drinks are in a fridge in the lounge in addition to the 'marinate" quality wine out on the servery.
