Is there a less rewarding flight in the One World network?

I had the mileage for a recent trip to the Baltic States hit my account - as per the screenshot below. The status credits were nearly more than the points!

It was a one-class Fokker 50 operated by Flybe Finland. About a 30 minute flight (only owing to the circular route to land at HEL).

Got me wondering though if there is any other flight on the OW network where you can accrue less than 17 points as a WP? Some of the new MH routes maybe?

Any ideas AFF'ers?

At 63 miles I doubt there are too many more in the oneworld network that are much shorter.

Lol. I've done the ferry to Tallinn a couple of times. Never the plane. The ferry is worth it just to see all the Finns on the way back loaded to the teeth with cheap booze.

i assume now that BA no longer grants the guaranteed minimum miles, it would be on the list. I know without status bonus or minimum miles MAN-LHR is like 38 points. I also assume some of the EI flights would generate pretty small returns.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You'd only have to fly that route 589 times in discount economy to score a free ticket.

Compared to say, SYD-MEL... 8 times.

:)

I started thinking about this more...

If you're Qantas Platinum and fly this route 330 times you wouldn't even earn enough points for an Economy flight SYD-MEL.

Credit this to AAdvantage and (as Platinum or Exec Plat) you'd earn enough miles for a First Class OneWorld RTW ticket with travel up to 50,000 miles!

You may get a loyalty bonus or two along the way (before June 30 anyway)....

Back in the old days it would have been 7 loyalty bonuses, and 35,000 points. Which would still only equate to an extra 1.7 points per mile.

GLR-ROK is 58 miles, while min points kicks in for QFF, for other One World programs it would be a small earn.

Also one of the more noisy flights I have been on!

Not oneWorld, but Vancouver to the provincial capital of Victoria (Air Canada) is 39 miles!

... and although it is 90% over water, there are no life vests carried, due to regs saying that they are not required on flights < X miles. And no, we didn't get high enough to glide into any of the surrounding forests, either!

Bahrain to Doha on BA would be about the same. It is about 70 miles point to point. The QFF points earn in discount economy class is 17 and 10 SCs.

I can't think of anything shorter than that.

Its actually 90 miles.

RJ - 67 miles Amman to Tel Aviv from Jerusalem you can just about watch the entire flight.

Its actually 90 miles.

So it is, my mistake. Still must be one of the shortest 777 flights in the world.

Another short flight is on MH Kota Kinabalu to Labuan which would be 70 miles and for discount economy earning rate would get 17 QFF.

I've done the Helsinki-Tallinn route numerous times and I don't think I've ever gotten points for it!

Although, mine is normally the last leg in a Finnair flight from Melbourne. I always just figured the fare wasn't eligible for earn (Even though the previous legs were). You make me want to investigate now!

fairbasa - It may be something to do with Flybe Finland being taken over by Finnair and becoming a One World affiliate airline now. I think this was only recently completed, hence why you may not have received any mileage previously. Funnily enough, I banked 34 miles for the return leg...

I thought I had a great example for this thread from our recent LHR - CDG flight... but not even close. Still, it highlighted the reality of the new BA relationship for us... and the check-in agent felt the need to call 3 people to make sure we could still use OneWorld baggage allowances even though we were QF!
