Is QF considering Lifetime Platinum?

I’ll see if I can get MrP ask to ‘show me the card’. While (generalisation coming up) guys tend to accept face value, MrP might just be prepared enough to ask him just to prove me wrong ;)
I believe that LTGs are issued a new card each year, so that may not be enough. Perhaps 'show me the letter'?

Yes, an annual card issued for every member regardless of status. So you are suggesting the card won’t say ‘lifetime WP’ on it. But if it’s so secret there may not even be anything in writing. Maybe I could get him to ask - how does he know he’s lifetime WP? Given he’s divulged he might be keen to also prove? He knows MrP is WP so he would know that MrP is a little educated. Or not

Why do they reissue LTG cards every year (being my first year of scum)?

With 'Lifetime' expiry and an extended QCash expiry date (mine is in 2022), it would appear to be a waste of resources unless the member specifically asks for one.

So this isn’t your normal Qantas card but an extra one? MrP has WP and LTG so just presumed it was reissued due to renewal of WP. I guess it says LTG somewhere.

When I was a P1/WP as well as LTG, I received a standard P1/WP card like everybody else (no mention of LTG as it is irrelevant).

Now that I am scum, this is the first time I have ever received a card that denotes my lifetime status (LTG).

If someone is a WP and states that they are also LTP, it would be the same. You would see 'lifetime' on their WP card.

Obviously I have removed my personal details on the photo above...

I have never received any LTG Gold card but maybe because I am WP? Do people normally get a card with LTG on it?

Noting that BA has recently introduced lifetime Emerald status perhaps QF are seeing how that turns out? Has anybody attained that level yet? And if so what features do they utilise the most?

I'm sure there are lots of things to consider and one of them is how we, (AFFers) would exploit the opportunity to its fullest.
Some people here are very hopeful Lifetime Platinum will be an easy target.

You were at the same lunch I was at a few years back. Even if Qantas did introduce Lifetime Platinum it will be a stretch target reserved for very few. Perhaps 28,000 (wouldn't be surprised if this was 56,000) Lifetime Qantas SCs and a number of consecutive years at Platinum. Maybe 20 years. Something similar to Hilton Lifetime Diamond.

Just picture that any target Qantas chooses would potentially have any number that have already reached the target.

Personally I think striving for Platinum each year would be easier.

If it’s 56,000 it’ll definitely be out of my reach even with lots of DSCs. Even something in the 30,000s may well prove too difficult.

Indeed. I’m sure if QF does introduce LTP they’ll check the numbers before setting the target.

Indeed. However it would be nice to not have to be concerned about how to retain WP each year anymore.

I suspect that many people who would have 30,000+ SC are probably currently WP (or P1) anyway.

Having read all the comments here and on ausbt, there's no doubt QF are losing at least a little revenue from not having LTP, though whether it's enough to warrant it's intro is a complex business analysis question that QF may just not be bothered calculating (other lower or bigger hanging fruit). I for one will absolutely change loyalty as soon as I reach LTG if there's no LTP within the next 7-8 years.

The extra 'costs' to having LTP I think are a furphy and would be more than offset by a smart operator. I also think that the crowded lounges is another furphy - there are many reasons why the lounges are crowded and we all hate crowded lounges and want a scapegoat, but really, with MEL growing by 1000+ people a week for the last two decades, and BNE, SYD, OOL etc not far behind.....

Btw MLB is Melbourne airport in Florida, US and irrelevant to this discussion. I think you meant MEL which is Tullamarine airport for Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Fixed, typical late Sunday arvo, one has a few bevvies under one's belt and inevitably the odd 'brain fart' slips in. :p

Edit: despite MEL being my home port, I've made that typo on here I don't know how many times!

When I reached LTG, I got a letter saying that I would be sent a Lifetime expiry Gold card in the future should I not retain Platinum.

I'm currently sitting on 20,965 lifetime SC. Though earn has slowed down a lot over the last few years due to the 'simpler and fairer' changes and the AA fare class changes (thus DONEx's no longer earn F SC for US domestic 2 class sectors). I have about 200 less SCs now then I did same time last year with the same amount of travel.

Hope so - I'm only at 25K, but my flying is about to be supersized as I approach a second round of semi-retirement. With at least another 30+ years off flying left in me LTP sounds good.

If LTP exists on the quiet then I am not aware of it. I have 92k status points and have heard nothing. I have raised it with Qantas on a few occasions. The best I got back was "you will be looked after".

...when you hit 100k??

92k SCs. Yikes.
