markis10 has in excess of 30,000 posts to his name but has not done so since January 2015.

Is he OK?

I pose the question because some AFF members were kind enough to ask the same of me even though my absence from this site was of a far lesser duration. My posts are nowhere near the number of markis10's erudite contributions.

Occasionally markis10 could be a little 'short' but one puts that aside as he obviously had (and hopefully retains today) much knowledge. I assume his contributions have assisted many to further their knowledge over the years.

Yes he is AFAIK, you will find him posting these days on
Flyertalk

I believe he is still posting on Flyertalk but not as often.

I too have occasionally wondered where he had disappeared to.

Reading between the lines I believe he may have had a 'falling out with management'. Purely speculation, though.

While I, like many, certainly appreciated his knowledge, I did find a rather large proportion of his posts came off as condescending and arrogant.

To me Markis10 was the most valuable AFF member when I've joined the group. The amount of knowledge he had was second to none but more importantly he was willing to share it and also help new members like myself learn the tricks of the trade.

markis10 also occasionally posts on Ozbargain.

With markis10 stepping down as a Mod (and not posting) and the the further corporatisation of AFF one must wonder what is happening behind the scenes...

The real reason won't be discussed out in the open. One of the earlier posts in this thread goes part of the way to the real explanation. Enough said from me.
