Is Jetconnect Qantas or not....hmmm

They're Qantas,

They wear Qantas uniforms, fly in Qantas branded planes and people deal with Qantas to make bookings on them.

Even if they are technically not the Qantas company per-say, in the minds of the consumer there is no difference.

I would summise that most customers don't care where contracts / finances lie, to them it's "badge" on the tail of the aircraft.

True, customers don't care - Australian Qantas Pilots & FAs may though!

It's like it was when my children were small. When they were good, Mrs Beast referred to them as being hers. When they misbehaved (?were beastly) they were definitely mine....

Well the first line of the article says it all really.. "Wholly owned, New Zealand based, subsidiary JetConnect"

Then further down a union rep says "It's a company that's controlled by Qantas, managed by Qantas and governed by Qantas. In fact, I don't think they even have a bank account in New Zealand." So one would assume that Jetconnect are required to follow all Qantas protocol and procedures.

Sounds to me like the union are trying to make an issue out of something that's a non issue as businesses around the world have been doing things like this for years.

They also fail to mention anything about Virgin Blues wholly owned subsidiary Pacific Blue being based in NZ. Sounds to me like more Qantas bashing.

Almost, there are a few variations because of the difference between CASA (AU) and CAA (NZ) regulations.

One off the top of my head is that on NZ registered aircraft (ZK) the crew must mention that under CAA law you have to follow crew members instructions and all posted signs.

On Australian aircraft (VH) you won't hear that announcement as part of the welcome PA.
