Hi All,

I need some advice from the brains trust on this forum.

I, like many on here, have hundreds of thousands of points sitting with velocity. With the current COVID-19 situation and virgins financial position I’m concerned that if the airline was declare bankruptcy points may disappear..

What’s the likelihood of this happening and should I withdraw my points by purchasing gift cards to get some cash value at what I have..?

am I making a mountain out of a mole hill.. or is there a real threat to my velocity points been wiped out..?

Question: I am personally in favor of dropping the Virgin name and VA morphing into a refreshed Aussie brand (to keep the Qantas coughs honest). We left our points in Velocity as there just weren't that many to gamble - around 100k.

But if and when it does resume flying, will all those who engaged in the mass exodus to SQ - return to our forum? Will you fly VA again? Do you reinvest your points with Velocity?

So confused right now.

I've kept 100k in VFF too, + some more that will come back in after a few cancelled redemptions.
I'll fly VA as long as they are around. though I only fly 6-7x per year domestically.

How much in licensing fees do they pay to Virgin Group for using the Virgin brand?

Info for those waiting for gift cards. I ordered a few JB Hi-Fi on 26th March and the postie just delivered registered post. Status still shows as "pending".

My first order was on 31 March, so hopefully my gift cards will arrive in 5 days.

The order status on my Dyson fan ordered on 2 April 2020 has just been updated to 'complete'! Quicker than I thought.

However, Perth is in isolation, and unless you are prepared to stay in a room for two weeks, it won't be much fun...until things return to normal, even a business class seat is really only about the size of the seat, and that's about it.
You may get lucky and spend two weeks on Rottnest, which is lovely!

Seems the locations are classy for quarantine, but the food is not good! I don't think they let you order in or drink alcohol either. Bit bad. Yes Rotto is great but depends which accommodation! Some cottages are on the water but I bet they don't let you out onto the beach!!!! 36 deg here tomorrow.

Thanks to members I have just ordered 24 bottles of Bleasdales Langhorne Creek Red cav sav and cav blend from Velocity wine. Confirmation recieved -so far!. One of our favourite tipples. OK 90,000 points, normally worth a Biz return SYD- PER but better than nothing in the end. Only another 400,000 FF points to burn.
If Virgin come out of this the other side there is going to be a lot of competition to use up FF's on available seating. (I lost 250,000 on Ansett).
Luckily my partner burned some of his on our friends trying to get home before it all went bad.
Really hope Virgin makes it. But wont be flying for a while until all over as we are in an at risk age group.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Have also just received my cash refund on 4 refundable flights that I did over the phone on 2 April. At the same time received an email response from complaints and compliments where I tried to get the refund a week previously about 23 March.
Must be lot easier to contact guest relations now.

Hmm. I bought $350 of JBHiFi gift cards on 2nd (Thu), and the points remain deducted from my VA account, so I'm hoping they're on the way and I just beat the curfew. Not seen anything yet. I imagine they are overwhelmed, but has anyone else received gift cards recently, and what was the lead time?

You'll see several reports of this if you check the posted messages.

10 to 14 days seems the standard delivery time.

My JB HiFi gift cards have been delivered and spent and a new washing machine and TV were delivered yesterday.

We should have a lucky exit door prize of who redeemed their points last before the KF transfer was stopped.
I left my get out to 09:45 EST yesterday having set up the transfer account at 09:44.

Transferred 680k points 3rd April 12:22pm to KF

Maybe it me that broke it for everyone :(

I was just trying to order some gift cards and damn it is not letting me order more than 1 gift card.

This change happened last week, and was discussed in previous threads. You will also notice that people have indicated that some gift cards or specific denominations of gift cards have disappeared.

I got a confirmation e-mail saying "Thank you for shopping with the Velocity Rewards Store!", at the time I placed the order on 28 March.

The website still says "Pending" and I haven't received the JB vouchers/cards.

Just to update this - I received a delivery card in the mail yesterday (6 April) and picked up the JB cards from the Post Office today. Auspost tracking says they received it on Thursday 2 April.

Yep until they stop it all!
Some vouchers don't seem to be in the store anymore.

Basically they are being cleaned out of all vouchers as the mad rush is on to clear all Velocity points continues unfortunately.

All Itunes vouchers now almost gone (only $20 variants left now).
