Hi All,
I would love to drop off a family member airside at the domestic terminal in SYD, therefore we can have some lunch before their flight.
However, is this 'allowed' as long as I still pass through airport security, as I won't have a boarding pass?

I'll then just follow the arrival signs like a normal arriving passenger.

Many thanks for your help!

I think if they restrict air-side to passenger only then I can imagine all of the shops will be suing the landlord for compensation, something airport probably want to avoid.

More people = more sales = higher rent.

I’ve rarely (maybe never) found crowds or security queues airside to be a problem in Strayan domestic airports for the last decade or so ... given that there wouldn’t be that many ‘bon voyage’rs during morning & afternoon peak hours (maybe a Sunday night?), what’s the reasoning behind some people saying they’d have no problem with restricting airside to pax?

I think the Australian way is cultural. If you allowed this in a sth american country "airside" would be jam-packed with non-flying relatives and hawkers

Ha-ha in a lot of Asia too. But apart from cultural, there's also a good economic reason too, at most capital city airports these days short term parking costs acts as a strong deterrent :p

Ah, the memories of the days of Anytime Access to the Lounge.
Yes, when life was simple. Back in the olden days with work, when I was heading out to the airport to pick up people in the evening or weekend, the kids always wanted to come with me as I'd take them into the Golden Wing Lounge for the drinks, food and desserts - in fact it became mandatory to take them. I often thought I could have camped there all day, in one of the work areas to run my business.
