Is anyone still Platinum?

I'm still platinum, and I've done my one required flight to be extended into 2022.
Same although I'll be taking flights to earn 600 SCs.
If based in Australia/NZ you could have kept your Platinum status simply by booking a flight this year (no need to even take the flight).
Although that wasn't open to everyone, due to varying 'Status keeper's deals.

I have retained WP until April 2022. I got 500 SCs gifted after my first flight of the new year (May 1) and earned another 169 from flying in the first 6 weeks and thought I could retain it from domestic alone. But then the lockdown happened in Sydney and the longer it goes on the less confident I am that I could retain it. One trip I had cancelled was to NZ at the end of this month in J using a voucher providing DSCs - I'd be surprised if Sydneysiders are allowed there before Christmas.

I'm P1 and have done what I believe was my retaining flight but the dashboard on the QF website shows me needing 1780 SC to retain P1, it doesn't say I've retained.

Does anyone else's dashboard read the same way? I'm slightly concerned that I've been "dudded"

I've got until Nov to rectify if something has gone amiss, the flight I believe was my requal was actually QF link, QF flight number obviously.

The status extension doesn't kick in till around the end of the membership year. QF would clearly like people unaware of it to think they still need to do lots of flying to retain.

So long as you booked your flight with a brand new booking with a new booking reference in the required window and took the flight you should be all good to go.

Retained WP this year, largely off the back of StatusKeeper, on the ground SC offers for BP, Woolies etc, and one international trip. The on the ground SC offers are starting to roll in again this year, so hoping for rinse and repeat.
Cheers skip

Yeah the NSW lockdown is going to be a no fly zone for a while I suspect. Thankfully I can fly over and around it. Just watching to see how the other states treat the ACT!

I still have QF Platinum until June 2022 thanks to StatusKeeper. But it's looking to be a struggle to maintain that sitting here in July 2021.

I booked two trips to NZ during the recent DSC promo that would have netted me 520SC towards renewal.
The first of those trips had to be cancelled due to COVID restrictions.
The second is not until Nov... so here's hoping that can proceed.
And the first can be rebooked.. although I haven't looked at the T&C to see if will still qualify for DSC.

I'll look to do some domestic trips also as border restrictions allow, but will be nowhere near enough for WP.

At this stage, the only way I can see myself earning enough SC to retain QF WP is for international borders to reopen in H1 2022 and I can do 2-3 trips OS, which is where I usually accrue 60-70% of my yearly SC total.

I did the "one flight to retain" right at then end of my membership year in May and maintained without issue.
I mostly only flew domestic anyway to get to P.

However, job change, partly due Covid does not see me fly anymore, nor give me much time for little pleasure jaunts so sadly the future of Platinum and airport lounges for me is not looking so rosy!
Still ten and a half months to go so who knows what the future will bring.

I've kept WP, but only through taking at least one flight that gave me the 'free' extension until June 2022. I had clocked up just over 1000SCs with 600 from Status Keeper and flights - many of which were from me being a Points Club member and using Classic Rewards flights. Looking ahead, I don't think I'll get to 1200 by June 2022, although I will have ticked over to LTG by then and that will keep me happy, while we're planning for our next international trip post my retirement, in 2025 or beyond.

Its looking more and more likely another free ish year will have to be given, surely QF wouldnt risk loosing FFs prior to travel reopening?
Even in the next couple of years might be easier if they reduce the status credits required.

If they reduced the number of SC to attain Platinum to say 700-1000, I'd be very tempted to level back up to that even whilst the borders are closed.

Exactly, at the moment im not even bothering to try for 1200, if it was something more realistic i might.

I’m hoping to actually get to P1 as I haven’t really stopped flying apart from right at the start of the national lockdown! :)
Even with the boost and some DSCs this is still a good effort to get P1 without major (any) international travel.

Hi All,

My Platinum status has reverted to Gold as I haven't flown since Jan 2020. All my flying was international so I have little hope of resuming travel until next year 😬. I'm sure many are in similar situation. Got me thinking - is anyone still Platinum? Maybe if coming off Platinum One? What about by this time next year? Keen to hear your thoughts. Cheers, Mike

Maintained my Platinum status during 2020 by myself without the handouts as did status runs on double status before covid hit .. sitting on 920 for this year but that includes status boost ..So I will easily get required SC before my year ends 31 12 21.. Actually slowing down my earn so I can roll over my status credit milestone bonus to 2022 ..Michael66

WP until April 2022 and no chance at all for me unless there is a deal to roll it over again... All my travel is interstate so from Qld to Vic and NSW so last year one trip to MEL and this year all trips to MEL and Syd cancelled... have only been doing QLD domestic flights...

Maintained Platinum via the status help system ... had taken a few flights in 2020 and 2021, so retained Platinum until Dec 2022, I guess ...

As it turns out both my original J class flights to and from Melbourne were changed to Sydney on the dreaded Q400, hence no J class anyway.
If your flights were changed from J to Y, but you booked J fare, you should still get J SC's for those legs ...

You must be one of AJ's most fave customers right about now !

Our QF account manager did joke along those lines once we moved our business across! (we were split VA1/QF before but the administration of VA2 really put us offside with their stupid credits and their new timetable was too lightweight so we cut them out for now)

I have already earned 1300 or 1400 SC (depending on which screen I look at) to retain WP until February 2023. This was mainly due to a J return PER-OOL with the DSC offer, although I’ve done quite a few domestic flights in Y or with classic rewards. Qantas might in due course also offer Jan/Feb folk a single flight to retain status, but I didn’t want the angst. Retaining WP is still worthwhile in my opinion if just for the premium line to the call centre!
