Is anyone sick of flying? I am...

Ouch!

I know it is not for everyone but sometimes there is merit in splitting flights on long haul journeys.

I'm with you on that one...

If I have to go LHR in Y I'm going to try for a stop in Singapore and a stop in Dubai...

Good point Johnk.
The couple next to me in Y split their trip coming back from Europe and said it makes the journey so much easier. I will give it a go next time.

YMMV.
Usually when I'm travelling (particularly when heading home from O/S) I'd much rather just bear it and get straight through connections. On Thursday & Friday last week I flew BLR-HKG-MEL-ADL and had an 8 hour stop-over in HKG, which was more annoyance factor than anything. However, pretty well all of my travel is work related and usually travelling solo in-Y, so that may have a bearing on it. :(

Next flight is 2 weeks away; connecting flights ADL-MEL-LAX-DFW-CVG return, for a 3 day meeting. I may change my mind again after that. :-|

I'm not sick of flying, but am over airports. If only I could walk out my front door straight onto a plane.

Not yet mate, but I expect to be since my renewal date is next year and I have over 7k SCs so far. Would be nice to know the benefits of P1 so I can decide which airline program to focus on. Usually spread things around a bit more but wanted to test some theories this year about "unpublished benefits", which I am yet to prove, but knowing some of the staff (by virtue of mass amounts of travel) does help with service.

OK. Understand and thanks for the feedback. I have decided to split by flying 3 / 4 ways to achieve and maintain QF WP, VA WP, *ASG and AA EXP as I can't believe WP1 will be able to match what those 3/4 top level benefits can deliver.

You guys don't know what you're missing out on!

Take a peek to the backside of the plane and see what we enjoy. :D

Once you've gone -Y you can't go back (much further).

I have top status (bar invite only) with most, or possibly all the alliances I travel regularly on but usually stick to one FFP per alliance, I see you are maintaining 2 OW memberships - is this a transition from QF to AA?

Now at over 10,000 SCs with 2 months still to go. Never would have imagined traveling this much when I first signed up to QFF...!

That's a lot Jobu.

Jobu, I assume that your travelling in highest class possible to attain that amount of SC earn. On the odd occasion that you don't get the travel in the highest class on QF, what is your op-up % like?

Jobu,

Where haven't you been in the past 10 months.

At the best you would have flown to London and back every month in F.

Having done at least 150 flights this year, after my journey from ZHR to Gold Coast two weeks from now I've got no more forward bookings for flights, with no plans to make any this year. For the first time in a while, I'm glad it's like that.

I travel in J class for long haul, economy for short haul. I've paid for F for 2 sectors this year out of over 120 flights. I'd have to check my spreadsheet on my other computer to tell you my % of op-ups. I think I've had about 5.

I've been to a lot of places this year (and on many airlines!). Average around 12 flights a month.

Not really sick myself but witnessed others being sick. Flight QF 007 11th of May to DFW sick passenger made it up the ranks to business class only to shed all bodily liquids in gulley and disable toilet due to infectious risk.

Then 20th May QF 94 LA to Melbourne sick crew member and passenger with calls over the PA too.

Has anybody seen spike in sick passengers while traveling and should there be tighter regulations on who flies ie screening of passengers?

Anyone who thinks they are going to be sick or get sick regularly do everything they can to prevent it. Once you are feeling sick, it is really impossible to stop until you land. I wouldn't want to be in thier position - no one wants to be sick or will fly knowing that they will be sick and might even need to divert the flight.

I find there is more of an issue with people boarding who have been drinking alcohol.

As for the sick of flying, I am not sick of it as such, just sick of being away from home.
