If you had to trade your QFF points for SQ. Would 1 SQ mile = 1.25 QFF point be a fair trade off?

Without comparing tables, SQ fuel fines are similar to Qantas and I dont think there is a substantial difference in points needed for flights
SQ points do expire by date which imho reduces their value.

I would probably be closer to 1:1

It really does depend on what you want to use them on. 1:1 is appropriate for using to west coast of US, otherwise SQ are definitely more than QF miles. As mentioned above fuel fines on both carriers are similar. But some comparison rates:

In business (one way):
MEL - SE Asia 60K (QF) 46.75 (SQ) ... ratio: 1.28
MEL- Europe main 128K (QF) 80.75 (SQ) ... ratio: 1.58
MEL- Europe other 128K (QF) 68 (SQ) ... ratio 1.88
MEL- US west 96K (QF) 97.5 (SQ) ... ratio 0.98
MEL - US east 128K (QF) 97.5 (SQ) ... ratio 1.31

In economy the ratios on these routes are more like ...1.41, 1.58. 1.58, 0.87, 1.35

If you are looking to redeem for J or F longhaul SQ is normally significantly fewer points than QF, even before the online booking discount.

Thanks dajop!

These miles are after the 15% online booking discount I am assuming? I am very new to Krisflyer and the reason I am looking at it as a replacement to QFF is because I can generally easily find availability online. Does the 15% discount also apply to partner (*A) awards? Are those even bookable online?

Those ratios would probably be even higher for F!

As has been said, SQ in J or F usually requires significantly less miles and has greater availability (in F at least) to a KF member with no status than QF/EK give to WP..!

I don't think I've seen a partner award online, and because they aren't online I don't think the discount applies.

Most of the rates I quoted include the 15pc discount for online booking, except for the US routes, where from MEL the most practical/shortest route is on partner airlines which can't be booked online (therefore the discount doesn't apply).

Partner Awards are not online...and so no there is no online discount.

For premium cabins QFF availability is a joke!

SQ is pretty good.
* Plus more often opens up not long prior.
* and if no SQ availability, I have always been able to get availability on one of their *A partners , often only a month or so out (sometimes the answer has been no initially, but a friendly manner often has had availability free up..)

Point cost is much cheaper in J or F for where I want to fly.

Would I swap a 1.0 SQ point for 1.25 QFF points. No way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you have friend / contact who will accept 1.25 QFF pts from you in exchange for 1 KF pt?

Yes.

I'm looking for award to Europe. FRA/CDG/ZRH. Hoping to follow in your footsteps and get on board with the suites product!

Does SQ have a RTW product?

Yes. 180k/240k/360k KF points in Y/J/F. 35,000 miles and 7 stopovers allowed. More like a commercial RTW in that only allows one Pacific and one Atlantic crossing - which is not a requirement of the QFF oneworld award.

The F redemption comes at a good price compared to QF
