You're churning through the sign on bonuses Cruiser! Nice.

Out of interest do you subscribe to the Veda score product to see how the multiple applications effect your score?

I think my last cc application dropped my score by 25 points, and was my first application in about a year.
Actually only subscribed to Veda a day or so again - still have no idea how to read it though.

Yep I keep applying and they keep giving me cards with bonus pts - I have ZERO concern about my credit rating - if they stop issuing me cards they stop - but at moment they all still seem to love me.

They update your Veda score every month, so you'll be able to see how it responds to applications.

Hope the love continues!

Macquarie Bank and Jetstar are the only ones so far who have knocked me back - I am under no illusions that eventually the gravy train might stop - but whilst thjey continue to dish up these offers I will continue to apply - it's all a big game to me.

Interesting to know....I became a little gun-shy after getting knocked back twice (once for a new card, and one for a limit increase).

I think the lack of a mortgage (or any other secured debt) is problematic for me.

Good luck with the hunt Cruiser! Hopefully the gravy train keeps on flowing.

Oh jeez-us just had an hilarious chat on phone with Investec. Let me firstly say the dude I spoke to is an absolute gentleman - just a gem to talk to you.

Upshot is Investec don't really wanna give me their new card - apparently I have applied for 55 credit cards over last 5 years - thought it might be more than that actually. :D

What they cannot determine is how many of those cards still open. Truth is - only 2 - Select and Westpac Black Altitude.

Dude I spoke to said if his decision no problem - but his credit guys are wavering. So here is the deal. He will email me last 6 CC applics I have made - if I can show him evidence that these cards were approved / activated / used / paid in full / closed then that should get me over the line.

Did I not tell you guys this pursuit of CC bonus pts is indeed a big game?

It's just Investec. They like to say everything's no problemo initially then everything's a major problem when you actually ask for the credit. There seems to be a real disconnect between the salesbloke and the number crunchers.

Just checked my score only dropped by 15 points.

Sorry, must admit your statement makes absolutely no sense to me, if you have ZERO concern for your credit rating why would you have subscribed to Veda?

I haven't run my Veda since the new system. A mate showed me his for advice on whether to go for the Investec offer. I can't see any score looks the same as the old reports. Veda site didn't enlighten me. Would my friend not have a score as hasn't applied for anything in 2 years or subscribed to the wrong report?

Is Investec issuing their own plastic now or still citi in the back end?

Sheer interest - just want to see what / who / why - And I am sorry too if my actions don't make sense to you - I will keep that in mind in future.

Was told on phone originally YES was going to be approved - was told again this morn YES will be approved if I can show them last 6 CC applics they send me are now all indeed closed. I currently only hold 2 CCs - Altitude Black and Select.

*snip*

"apparently I have applied for 55 credit cards over last 5 years - thought it might be more than that actually. :D"

See, now THAT is what makes AFF such a great forum!

Most other places on the planet, the above statement would earn a massive WTF????? Here, it's a sage nodding of the heads all round, and *respect* for such a ballsy application of The Rules.

Well played, Sir!

Just noticed this offer today on the Qantas site.

http://www.qantas.com.au/cardselect... Card&partnercode=INVESTEC&intCountSelected=0

100 000 points for the Signature card.

Signature is $400 per year, but 100 000 points is a nice bonus.

The downsides look to be
  1. $15 000 spend required in 90 days to get bonus points.
  2. $120 000 minimum earn to qualify
  3. $400 early fee

The positives though
  1. Visa earn of 1 point per $ in AU
  2. Visa earn of 2 points per $ overseas
  3. Complimentary Prestige Priority Pass™ membership
  4. 100 000 Qantas FF points

Similar other features of a high end card.

Cannot say I have ever heard of "Investec" myself, but I am willing to apply for the 100000 points.

Anyone see any other obvious downsides???

Cheers

The downside is I don't earn that sort of cash.

I just got a reply by phone from Investec saying they only deal with doctors/dentists. Don't know if that's the current knock-back excuse or not, because I've got them well covered in earnings. Anyone else had the same excuse?

And accountants/financial planners. Everyone else is no-go.

Yep, have a look at my post #16

Just been speaking to the people at Investec and they have told me that my application cannot be accepted as they are a medical and dental association and the cards are only offered to those professions. I told them that the invitation was clearly offered on the Qantas site and nowhere in the fine print does it say you have to be in the Medical profession, even though I meet their requirements. They apologised but said that there is nothing that they can do, and the link has been removed from the Qantas site, even though it was still there as I was speaking to her. I feel a bit cheated about this, as here I am giving them all my personal financial details and qualifying, and they simply say "no we dont want you".

What do you guys think?

Also told them that I was not happy as this would be a negative on my credit history as a credit card has been declined, she did say that would not be the case as the application has not been acceptd, they better be correct as I dont want my credit standing soiled by their stuff up!

I think their advice is correct in that Investec is not processing your application in the sense of evaluating first, then declining.
