I'm travelling to New York on with my partner, but unfortunately the booking system at work requires me to select the cheapest flights which all turn out to be discount economy. I was hoping to upgrade the missus and me to W or J if possible for the BNE-LAX leg . Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get an upgrade from discount economy. I am WP with Velocity, and have my 4 seat upgrades still available (yes I realise these are domestic only).

thanks

I would give them a call see if at all possible to do it with points, I don't think you will have any luck using your comp ugrades. Being WP you will get meal from J and drinks etc def will get looked after anyway.

Your best best would be to upfare to a flexi class then apply for the upgrade-expensive I know, but cheaper than purchasing business strait out.

I thought, based on the original notes that were put out (http://www.australianfrequentflyer....international-upgrades-with-points-41816.html) - not sure if these were superseded; that you could upgrade from Discount Y to Y+/W for 45k points?

I have tried to do this after incorrectly reading the T & C's and can confirm it is not possible. You need to be at least on a Flexi Economy fare to upgrade to Y+ or J. Discount Y fares (Saver) are not eligible for the upgrades...

Well, this definitely didn't happen. Got a personal welcome from the cabin supervisor, but apart from that there was no special treatment at all. Nothing for the SG/WP in the row in front either.

I didn't get anything sitting in Y, no 'welcome back', nothing from any supervisor. I was in the front row too!
