Hello AFFers, a quick question for my flight next Tuesday QF LHR to Sydney via Melbourne. Am a bit concerned that my turnaround is Melbourne is tight. Arrive 5.35 Mel depart 7.15 to Syd. When I booked I understood that this would be an ok transit time. Closer to flight am a bit concerned it's tight with no allowance for late flight in. Would appreciate your thoughts!

Provided your flight arrives on time you should be fine.

It’s QF all the way?
It’s all the same building in MEL; and if QF is late and QF has to get you to Sydney then it’s QF’s responsibility to get you to Sydney ... and even if it’s a weekend there’re going to be half-hourly flights.

QF will get you to Syd is you miss the planned connection, as all one ticket. And you are arriving early enough that there are still quite a few later flights that day.

There is more frequency on the MEL-SYD route than most local bus services have on their routes into CBD's.

You'll be fine.

No problems at all, even if your incoming flight is late as most other people here have said, Qantas will put you on the next available flight. Make sure you go to the transfer desk not the regular check in desk.

Melbourne is the arguably easiest airport in Australia to transfer from INT-DOM with you being under the one roof and not even a long walk.

Enjoy the flight, there's nothing to worry about.

Thank you all. For fast replies And for reducing my pre-flight stress levels. Most appreciated. Yes it's the one through QF booking LHR to Sydney so I'm reassured.

Hi Junes
Have done this route myself last year. MEL is easy, walk out from customs and up to domestic or transit departures. Both are as quick, but you will miss nice lounge time in Mel Q pub, I needed a good coffee after the Uk experience. If you miss the connection as others have said there are plenty more. Look at the MEL airport map to know which way to go. Talk to the flight attendant if you think your flight is going to be late and they can arrange a change or let QF know you flight is delayed.
