International transfer SYD - SFO - YYC

Hi All,
I have a QF flight from Sydney to Calgary via SFO.
SYD - SFO - YYC

All booked via Qantas on the one PNR.

From my understanding the following happens.

• Checked Baggage will be checked thru to YYC. So will not need to collect at SFO.
• Arrival at SFO, go thru USA customs
• Then enter Security to Departure gates.
  
• Have 3 hr 35 mins layover so should be plenty of time.

Can anyone advise on the details above at SFO?

All correct except you will need to pick up bags in SFO clear customs and then put the bags back on the recheck belt....so no need to recheck in upstairs.

Besides your ETA for Canada you will still need a valid ESTA for the USA even to transit through.

Thanks, I am coming back into the USA later in the trip so I already have both of these.
