Just putting the question out there in regards to taking 2x small boogie boards (Aussie flag) to London, via USA.

Could they be allowed as carry on (extra piece per person maby?), or excess baggage?

We actually have a suit bag they bith fit into!

Just tried the suitcase, but they are too big.

The flight providers are:

- QF to USA (stop over / holiday )
- AA for internal US connection flight (AA3044 / Embraer Rj145)
- BA from US to London.

Could there be any issues (AA flight) in regards to carrying something unopened (plastic wrapped since purchase: pictures below).

The measurements are:

- 84cm long
- 46cm wide
- 6cm thick

Not fussed on excess charges, still expected to be cheaper then postage!

I would check in. Anything unusual in the cabin these days seems to be labelled a security risk!

You could put in a suit bag as once on board it'll be "just a suit bag".

Security screening might want to look more closely at it however. Worst case it ends up checked in.

You'll have to report back what you end up doing!

I'd second the notion of checking it in.

Well actually now i rethink it, checking boogie boards in doesn't always end up well.

YMMV!

As you're not going to Bali, I would check it in but keep a sister nearby to say to say it's hers.

Bump, using a computer right now, but it's been successfully completed last week. Photo's will be added via my phone.

1) No damage done, checked in as baggage
2) Saw it board our 1st flight (Melb / Bris) of many, with a photo taken!
3) After receiving it for our stop over / time in New York, I noticed one of the "Eurail" straps missing, which wasn't an issue.
4) It stayed wrapped up until its final destination: London.
5) Travel destinations for it were: Melb / Bris / LAX / JFK / Baltimore / Heathrow.

It survived!

Remaining few photos must be on the normal camera, will try to add them after our trip ends, in December.
