Hi All,

Was hoping to get a definitive answer here from the resident experts.

Would my family be able to access the QF Int J lounge in Melbourne using lounge invites (physical passes from credit cards) when flying on EK Ticket but on a QF Operated flight?

The flights in question is QF35/EK5035.

many thanks in advance

What does the back of the lounge pass say? There can be slight differences in the conditions on the back so check that first

If they are on the QF35 (ticketed/sold as) then yes.. if the EK flight number that could get tricky.

That lounge IS useable with the complementary passes when flying QF services.

EK ticketed but QF operated <- Depends on the flight number. If QF, yes. If EK more likely to be no.

I believe the ticket will state "Flight QF 35" then somewhere at the bottom/on the ticket it would state "sold as EK5035". So unsure if that complicates matters?

If the wording on the pass is along the lines of Next flight must be on a QF or JQ flight number the OP won't get access. However it is the wording that is on the back of the pass that is important here.

Some passes are domestic only. It is important to read what is written on the actual pass.

The electronic passes (I know OP mentioned printed) now say QF or JQ *flight number* so they would be out for EK5035 codeshare. Let's hope the printed ones have more generous wording.

If my recollection is correct the physical lounge passes I've had have had a similar limitation. They also can't be used at the lounge in LAX regardless of which flight you're on.

The limitations on using lounge passes and where you can use a QANTAS Club membership mean I want to stay Gold or above for as long as possible and get to Lifetime Gold as soon as I can.

Pass wording states "your next onward flight that day must be on a Qantas or Jetstar flight number".

so seems like a no go, thanks for the help!

My thought - it can't hurt to try expecting a polite refusal but possibly allowing you in. What's to lose? Expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised (of coiurse one's definition of "pleasantly" may be stretched by the MEL Int J basement, but that's a separate issue :) )

good luck if you try!
