Is there a particularly effective website that is recommended for booking a one way flight from AMS-MXP or LIN.

LCC flights seem to be less than $100 and major airlines >$1000. I'm concerned that there isn't much visibility of baggage inclusion and our travelling party migth be slugged with extra charges at the airport.

Have you tried booking a return fare, I find the majority of the time with european carriers its cheaper to buy a return and ditch the return leg than to purchase one way??

Good point TG, thanks.

KLM One way fare is EUR640, 'return' is EUR180

Easyjet is showing EUR59 with 20kg bag.

Do you know of a particular booking engine best equiped tobook above?

Cant help much unfortunately, I do everything in my GDS, perhaps some of the regular flyers might be able to point you in the right direction.

I've found the best flights website very helpful for comparing the options for intra europe flights as it shows most carriers. Another site I have used is the amadeus website and searched the online timetables. Once I find the airline I want to book with I go to their website and book it direct to avoid booking fees.

One other way I found to avoid the nasty one way fares is if you need more than one flight and there is a Saturday night in between then you can book multi city flights and get the cheaper price. I was able to do this on the Austrian Airlines site for VIE-TXL-ZRH flying with OS & LH and paid about EUR125 all up for the two flights.
