Interlining SQ to VA on separste PNR

I'm flying HKG-SIN-SYD in F in a few weeks on SQ and will connect in Sydney that same day for a VA flight SYD-ADL in J. The VA flight is on a separate PNR.

I know I need to collect and clear customs and immigration with my luggage on arrival in SYD.

However I'm wondering whether they will check me in and tag my bags through to ADL in HKG notwithstanding the separate reservation PNRs.

Any thoughts appreciated...

I would have thought not but have not tried myself SQ -> VA. Just that VA are so difficult about interline.

Last time I did something like this was 2009 HKG-SYD on VS, cleared customs and re-checked at the VA check-in facility at SYD T1. Was quick.

Anyone know if that VA check-in still there? And what cut-off time for check-in is? Eg QF normal domestic is 30mins but at T1 I believe is 40 mins.

Haven't done it myself (always been on the same PNR), but I'm fairly confident it's fine and pretty easy. You might just need an agent who knows what they're doing on check-in.

SQ can check your bag all the way through to ADL even though you're on a different PNR. We had two different PNR's - one with SQ from BKK-SIN-DPS and one with VA from DPS-MEL-ADL (status run trip). It took a little longer to organise, but the SQ team in BKK were awesome and tagged the bag right through to ADL. We just collected it in MEL and dropped it off at the VA counter. They also printed our BP's for the whole trip (including the VA legs through to ADL). I absolutely love SQ - if they can do it, they will. Having said that though, we were flying J all the way through and we had WP & SG status with VA. Not sure if that helped our cause, but cannot thank them enough - made it much easier than having to collect the bag in DPS and check in again.
